Yeah, I do understand the problem. Trouble is, there are not so many at weekends, they often cost more and the noise limit is sometimes reduced to 98dBA. This trackday was deliberately chosen as it is a Friday evening, so that people who are close could get away with taking just a few hours off work. If you come across any good weekend ones, let me know!

In case it helps with this event, as long as you arrive in time to sign on and attend the safety briefing then that\'s OK.
In practise, that means getting there by 4.20pm and you\'ll be OK to go!

Well the kit car is back up and running after the fuel pump failure caused me to throw a tip at cadwell so am interested in this. I don\'t want to book yet though as it\'s going back to the dyno for a safety check. I can\'t get it there until after 10th when I come back from the ring.

well i went all the way to re worx today and rolling road computer died just after i got there so no mapping for me, Geff and Max said it was too fast to map on the road after 20 minutes out in it. I am booked for the day after this track day so i wont be able to make it, sorry guys but i dont want to risk it.

Most definitely, i have some catching up to do!
the car would probably be fine but they couldnt get into 4th gear due to the very low gearing, it has a final drive diff ratio of 3.09 on an RX7 gearbox, (at 6900 rpm in 5th it would be doing 235 mph :D)
When it blew at Cadwell it was the first time i had managed to get into 4th gear going flatout, 1st 2nd and 3rd will be fine, they managed to check the Afr\'s but couldnt check 4th, so its fine to squirt it around in the lower gears but iirc Bedford has some fast bits.

You\'re right, we\'ve got the "South" and "West" circuit combination for the evening, and that\'s got one very long straight where your beast would be able to get up into 4th. I\'m sure you\'d rather be sure than risk a "Cadwell" incident!

Whats the noise limit ?

I found this statement about noise limits at Bedford;
"The noise limits at Bedford Autodrome will remain unchanged at 101dB(A) static (measured 0.5m from the exhaust at a 45’ angle at ¾ maximum revs) and 87.5 dB(A) drive-by at 20 metres."
Apparently, they can be very quite strict, and if a car fails a drive-by, it\'s black flagged and that\'s it, no opportunity given to quieten in any way. I\'m told they have two mics positioned "flat-out" points around the circuit, so monitor twice every lap.
That\'s tighter than Cadwell, operated by the same organistaion, who only required a static test of less than 105dB(A), with no drive-by monitoring. None of the 7\'s there had any problem, most tested less than 100dB(A).
Hope your exhaust isn\'t a noisy one!
Should pass the static no problem.... drive by we\'ll just have to wait and see !!

We shall then be taking the A507 to Clophill, then A6 through Bedford, stopping at the Sainsbury Filling Stn on the A6 just north of Bedford, a few miles from the track. We aim to get to the track at about 3.00-3.30pm.

What a FANTASTIC evening !!
Spent 2 hours on track tonight, 70l of fuel, 115 miles of track abuse.
I love my car.
That circuit was sooooo great, was really getting in the groove, I want a whole day there soon.
Driving standards were very good, staff very friendly and lenient ( I failed the driveby noise test by 2.5 Db and I was lifting off !! )

Huge thanks to Malcolm for organising it, and everybody who participated... :Thumbs-up :god :god
The only slight downer was I went out for "a few last laps", and ended up in an argument with the only bit of Armco in Bedford, dinged the side of my car, hurt my pride, got a huge ear bashing from Wifey :Hammer :(
Hence, car is awaiting recovery from Bedford, but I unfortunately didn\'t opt for the vehicle recovery insurance, but am otherwise covered for the clash... :o
So a small plea for help if anybody has a suitable vehicle trailer and towing vehicle, and would be willing to recover my car from Bedford to London Road, High Wycombe... I will of course pay all expenses and a \'reward\' in the form of beer tokens etc. :D :guinness
Dave - glad you could come along as the only RX-7 representative. Probably good you were the only one, that drive-by limit is a killer, but I\'m glad they officials were lenient with you and it didn\'t affect your evening.
I was on track some of the time you were out and you were certainly quick. I had to keep a distance to avoid your flamethrower at the rear;)
Sorry we didn\'t get a chance to chat more, we were all too busy wanting to get out and drive!
I had a great time; the dry, wet (rivers across track in place), then drying conditions made the evening very challenging. It really was massive fun. I\'m glad I had the RX-8 electronics to keep things in shape when being a little over eager with the loud pedal - much back end twitching and big grins.
Thanks to everyone who came along, and to the Mazda on Track team for organising the evening.
Latest on seanp (I\'m sure he\'ll be along shortly) - he\'s getting the car recovered today, or Tuesday if the recoverers run out of time. He says his insurers (Moris) have been great this morning in processing his claim and getting things moving.
As malcolm said - things are being progressed really nicely - please don\'t let these little incidents put you off attending such wonderfully arranged events!
It was a \'one-off\', and "just one of those things!"... Really a very safe environment, and as you can see - nothing more than a bit of bent metal, and an ear bashing to go with it; good insurance company, well used to dealing with such incidents.
Recovery is \'FoC\' from the bodyshop, so great show there, and no need for a trailer now. Recovery vehicle and courtesy car on their way as we speak :)
Oh -- I forgot to thank MoT for running the event, and Nick for the tuition session, most of which appears to have slipped to the back of my brain towards the end... :)
Latest: Car not being recovered today; the insurance company conveniently \'forgot\' to tell them it was a Bedford, and the driver doesn\'t have time today... so hopefully tuesday. Ho Hum!
However, I have a little black roller skate to \'drive\' around in, meantime!
