Title: First Rx7 help needed!!!
Post by: mmm on June 30, 2009, 02:01:37 PM
Hi there

I am considering buying my first rx7 soon and I think I have found the one, but I have a few quires..

I have found a 1993 rx7, rebuild done in 2003 and only done 10k since the build, car is serviced every 2k from build, the car has light mods such as hardpipes, exhaust, induction kit, uprated  clutch and flywheel.

The rebuild was done by rxmotors of blanford forum.  My question is that is the engine fine on this car since the rebuild was gone along time ago but it also has only done 10k since the build, any recommendation???

Roughly how many more miles should I get before another rebuild???

if it is a full on rebuild you should see 60k from it, but it all depends on the condition of the housings that were used! if they were new ones then there is nothing to worry about, but if they are reused ones, then it\'s all about maintenance of the coolant system & what coolant has been used over the years! so unfortunatly if it has reused parts it could be bit of a lotery.... you could win a goodun, or you could loose!

depends on far too many factors for anyone to be able to give you a definate answer mate.

if it\'s only done 10k in 6 years, thats not nessessarily a good thing

You should be fine with an RX motors re-build mate, but i think a compression test is essential, after my rebuild (all new housing, plates etc,)and 16k in 5 years my compression test were all over 8, 8-1 was the lowest,
which is very good, Where abouts are you, what is the cost of the car? if you don\'t mind me asking! is it a Mazdarotaryclub car?
Good luck
