Hi all, first post here im the owner of a 1992 CYM FD3S
Ive done a quick search for this problem on the forum but havnt really found an answer
Basically i have a gear selection problem, when cold the gearbox is almost impossible to put into gear without coming to a stop to engage 1st, once its warmed up 2nd gear is really difficult to select and often graunches into gear , It is made worse when high revs are used before changing.
I have recently had the gearbox oil changed, but the problem now seems to be worse!
Also the car has only covered 22,000 miles from new
Hope someone can help
if you dont know the gearbox oil it might be too thick??
also have you check there is no play on the clutch pedal? my cluch piston was not locked off and it had vibrated itself loose and screwed itself in too far under the clutch pedal causing my clutch to slip now and again and hard to engage gears because the piston was in theory only been 50% used. I adjusted the piston by screwing the thread back out and locked it off with the 12mm bolt to remove any play so now i get 100% out of the slave cylinder plundger. :)
there should be 10mm of play in the clutch pedal, but i do agree it sounds like a clutch issue. You could try removing the inspection hatch on the bottom of the bell housing to check you have full movement on the clutch.
