Title: Manual boost controller?
Post by: nuki on June 25, 2009, 07:42:49 PM
hey ppl! little help please! i am still running the standard ecu
running aftermarket big standard fit intercooler
twin HKS air filters
CAT Back exhaust
still using the CAT ( which most possibly is dead )
After no luck of finding out why i am running at 12PSI on a Standard ECU and overboosting further to 15PSI on changeover then back to 12PSI but NOT hitting fuel cut!
i have decided to temporary fit a manual boost controller just to limit myself to 10PSI.
Basically i have been told i need to fit 2 manual boost controllers to each turbo. Is this true?
any help would be usefull.
thank you.

Hi matey. That sounds like a load of rubbish you have been told. You are running the risk of damage with those mods, I would suggest an apexi ecu and remap is the order of the day.

Hes already been told that but he needs a quick cheap fix so he can keep using the car as its his only means of transport.
So till he can afford the sporting mods (apexi and remap) or is willing to undo the mods he needs to cut his boost a lot.

Manual boost controller is your right foot, which is also free!  Rather than booting it and letting your boost creep to 15psi, just drive it round sensibly until you get it looked at properly.  With the mods you have you should be looking at an ECU anyway.

if you just need a quick cheep fix nuki then make a flange to go between the cat and rear section with a smaller diameter than the catback.
its rough but it should stop your over boosting, but i agree with whats been said you need an ecu and a remap mate.
