I\'m at the stage now where I need a boost controller before I go and get mapped. I had been planning to get the Apexi one that is controlled by the PowerFC as I thought that would be the most elegant solution rather than adding another box to the dashboard.
However, I can\'t see anyone on the forums ever mentioning them really, so was wondering if anyone knew why people are not using this unit, and if there are good reasons then what are everyone\'s recommendations?
I\'ve had both and the difference is night and day. The PowerFC one was all jumpy and struggled to keep up with the boost.

Swapped to a Profec B II and the results speak for themselves:

Think I did post about it about 3yrs ago :Giggle

Yes, you did :yes. I just found it whilst I was doing a search wondering about the answer to the OP question....and now I know. Cheers, Shaun, I\'d often wondered why the Apexi add-on had such a poor rep myself
Crikey, that\'s pretty awful looking! Unless you had a faulty one I think that\'s pretty conclusive...
I use the AVCR and think its great. Looks good, works well and has some nice features.

Thats an Apexi as well isnt it? Uses the same plumbing as the PowerFC one AFAIK, so it must be the PFC itself that doesn\'t respond quick enough to boost spikes. Hmm... can anyone else vouch against the PFC boost controller, or did everyone just decide not to buy one after seeing shaunwil\'s dyno?
I can see why the GReddy one might be quicker responding, since it bypasses the ECU altogether and measures the pressure itself (a vac line goes right into the back of the unit I believe?)
Its almost as if Apexi did it on purpose so you had to buy an AVCR!
I\'d prefer it if it could all be managed from the PFC, a nice simple solution.
