Hi all,
This is how my project looks at the moment.
Hopefully it will move along faster when complete?!!
Thanks to Clive for all his work on the car so far.

Carl
Should buzz along quick enough. ;)

Carl,
What car is it your working on?
His black FD. ?
Hi Carl,
looks like you have heavy part done. Now you just gotta bold all the goodies on. Are you making your own inlet/exhaust manifolds?

tony
wow :god so just to scare me how much would you be looking at for a bog standard ;) lol 4 rotor?
Si
I have worked out a price for a drop your car off and pick it up as a turn key a few weeks later for a 3 rotor engined FD.
This would be N/A with fuel injection and around
450 FWHP,9000rpm capable.
If anyone is serious about this I would be happy to speak with them with more detail.
Kind regards
Carl
stop it satan (read i\'ll ask the question when a rebuild looms)

Interesting...presume your talking about a PP short crank Carl? do you mind me asking what/who\'s \'crank\' this would use? And how (where) would it be mounted?
THanks,
Hi Rich,
This is short block 3 rotor mounted in the stock position, and also front mounted too, with battery relocated to interior of the car and no airpump,no intercooler,no turbos,so much weight is lost up front which would still keep the cars balance.
Shaft is made for me.
The engine would be peripheral ported.

so about another afternoon or so to finish it... (not including putting the bonnet back on, of course...)
oh my sweet mother of jesus mary adn her mammy aswell fooking hell lol how u gona go about fule imput u going for carbs or fuel injection. are u gona turbo it? finaly an rx7 that can get up a hill :P

It is going to run on petrol and carbs at first and go to fuel injection later.

Yes,Clive wants more power so the engine is being worked on right now,big porting and the full top secret works.

Hang on, let me get this straight, a THREE rotor normally aspirated engine, with 450bhp? Holy sweet mother of God!! How much, when, where, and how can I fit one to my other car (mk6 Escort) :D

I\'m waiting for some one (Rich, Glen ?) to ask about what would happen with bunging a turbo or SC on it
there was a 3 rotor turbo rx7 on auto trader it was pink heh it claimd 600 ponies and 900 runing nos 30k was abit out of our reach lol i beleve it ran the european gumbal
edit: pink panther i beleve it was called i also saw it on ebay lol starting at £18k
& that is owned by a chap on here now, "Roundabout-Now", & having seen it in flesh it is pink & it is scary, maybe i\'m just a wimp

lol
Si
why are you so scared of intimidating pink flesh???
what?? What did I say?? *innocent whistles...*
I\'ve told you before OJ the restraining order is still in effect your not allowed anywhere near me with that!

lol
Seriously his thingy was 50% bigger than mine & i felt so inferior i had to go & batter mine about later that day.
Si (sadly it\'s all car related (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/otn/happy/11zwinky.gif) lol)

Yes OJ, I think another afternoon will sort it all out.
Then the bonnet will take about 3 or 4 weeks to get right.:DThe real difficulty with bonnet\'s is knowing which is the front and then by the time you have sorted that out you have forgotten whether you have it up the right way or not.It\'s a bit like those rubiks cube things, you end up taking all the stickers off to get the colours to line up on the right side.
Kind regards
Carl
Lol now we know why Clives car hasn\'t got a bonnet on it at most shows :rollin
Quotehis thingy was 50% bigger than mine & i felt so inferior i had to go & batter mine about later that day
Honestly, size is not everything!! It\'s what you do with it that counts! And if you\'re gonna do that with it, it\'s no you need another man to straighten it out... (still to do with cars....)
QuoteThe real difficulty ... is knowing which is the front and then by the time you have sorted that out you have forgotten whether you have it up the right way or not
but I\'m not entirely sure this is to do with cars...
Carl
What are you using for the ignition and the control of it? And what about fuel delivery.........Thats going to need a fair amount.........I know get OJ on the roof and he can poor it in:D [now I know why the bonnet was causing all those problems] 2 twin choke 40 DCOE fed by some HUGE fuel pump prehaps:eek: ??

Actually what I have done is ask Shell to sponsor me,they were very reluctant due to their oil reserve figures being somewhat exagerated, but they agreed to produce a really long filler pipe that would be attached to my local filling station with a direct hook up to my car,I have a 100 mile radius before I run out of pipe.
They of course will have make sure it is the same stuff that Michael Schumacher uses.LOL.

I am sure that should read, \'What Michael Schumacher sits in\' as we all know that F1 cars are controlled from the pits.... :bandit

Hi Carl,
How is the project going?
I want to thank you for your input on my friend\'s melting apex seal problem awhile back. We are still not certain we found the cause, but we believe the curved leading edge of his exhaust ports is related to the problem. The motor should be torn down this week. Hopefully the damaged parts will provide some clues.
Best,
Chris Carlisi

Hi Chris,
Let me know how you get on with the motor. If I can be of any further assistance do not hesitate to contact me.
My project car is nearly there.
I think we will be trying to start the engine in a day or two.
I have handed some of the work over to a company here who have certain skills and equipment that I do not possess.
I am hoping to have it going in time for a drag meet in a couple of weeks.Time will tell though.
Even if it is running we won\'t be trying for any quick times just yet.Need to test for a while at first.
I will put up some post\'s when it is running.
Kind regards

You looking to take that monster to Pod then Carl?
That would be a treat to see and hear. Must make quite a roar.
Carl!
Please ensure someone is there with a video when you fire it up, and take it for a run.
Be great to hear/see another na 4rotor running in the world! :)
Always wanted to find out, can you buy peripheral port rotor housings off-the-shelf or are they 100% custom? Also, is the e-shaft a bespoke item? I know there are some aussie companies making e-shafts for multi rotor engines, but have you just made your own? If so, what material did you use? Sorry for all the questions but I\'ve only just stubled accross this tread and I\'m extremely excited! A UK 4-rotor, BOOYAH! Can\'t wait to see vids.
You can purchase Mazdaspeed PP housings - V expensive, you can also build PP housings from standard housings blocking off water jackets and using inserts etc.
As for the E Shafts, Jeff Bruce of Precision Engineering in New Zealand makes them - guide on prices here:
General Info on Rotary Kits
This is a general list of parts available to convert mazda 13b type
engines to 3 or 4 rotor variants ,only the modified parts are
listed as most others are mazda items or are easily fabricated
by a competent engine builder.
All prices are in NZ$ and are ex factory so no allowances for
shipping etc have been made .
NZ customers should note that gst is charged on top of these prices.
1. 3rotor crank assy NZ$2100 (12a based version same price)
2. 4rotor crank assy NZ$3200 (includes special rear c/weight)
3. Centre housing modification for 3 or 4 rotor kits NZ$700 (2 req for 4 rotor)
4. Thru stud set (10mm) for 3 rotor NZ$175
5. Thru stud set (10mm) for 4 rotor NZ$195 (12mm also available)
6. Dowel set for 3 rotor kit NZ$110
7. Dowel set for 4 rotor kit NZ$130
8. Direct oil feed for 3/4 rotor kits centre housing NZ$90 (2 req for 4rotor)
this mod is not a necessity only an upgrade for the oiling system.
9. Replacement 20B shaft assy NZ$2100.
10. 20b shaft assy , 3 piece with extra needle bearing assy NZ$2900
11. 13b/12a centre bearing crank kit (includes housing mod) NZ$1800
note that the centre housing mod cost is only for the mod ,it does not
include the cost of a std front gear or the housing ,these items esp
the housings vary greatly in price depending on the year/type. They
can be priced on submission of mazda part number.
To Build a four rotor engine requires alot of component manufacture and development.
The engine I have built used a custom crank that still needed further modification, as do all of the housings. This takes alot of time.
Then there is the porting which also takes a lot of time to work on.
All of the parts need to be balanced too.
There is much additional work needed over and above what Glenn has posted above to build a complicated engine like this.
It is very time consuming as well.
I am looking forward to it running at the pod,i hope it will be there for the 10th of October,
Don\'t expect any quick times though as it will need alot of fettling!
I plan to at least make one of the biggest noises there, maybe the jet car will be noisier?
Still lots to do,but as I said I hope it will be there.
Kind regards
Carl
I can imagine! How did you go about filling the ports in the side housings? It\'s so good to see someone taking on such an adventurous project, long live the innovators! Hope she fires up first time mate!
only just stumbled across this thread but it makes very good reading !!
good luck with it carl and i hope it works like you are hoping it will :)
bummer :( first outing for the four rotor and I\'m going to miss it due to a rally being on the same night/day :(
Rally finishes at the earliest 6am on the sunday and then its a fair old trek from Norfolk to Santa pod and then back up to Lincoln afterwards.

Hi Glenn,
Yes pretty well all new parts.
The rotors are 9.7 to 1 compression, new too.
I have used Iannetti ceramic apex seals too.

Carl
Excellent stuff Carl.
I have actually been hearing a lot of very good reports about the NRS (Canadian?) seals - you know anything about them?
.btw - Pretty sure I\'ll be going with Ianetti\'s also.
I have pulled one engine that had them in and there was a problem with the NRS ones in that the springs were very worn.
One spring had made it\'s way out from under the seal and scored the side housing.
I also think that the end piece is all at the wrong angle and does not seal as well as it could.
The 2 piece Iannetti\'s are better on both counts.
Kind regards
Carl
The NRS ones are those that Rice is using/retailing Glen?
it also has a bit of added dribble now

as i managed a glimpse of it in the flesh erm metal erm you know wot i mean oh well look forward to hearing & seeing it doing it\'s thing :god

Yeah - I have heard a lot of very good feedback about them, but I believe there is another apex seal being made in Oz that is meant to be better again. I\'m trying to find out some more details on it.
.ps Carl - I changed the title of the thread.
We started the engine on Saturday!!
Sounds very much like it is meant to do something.
It is running very sweetly with one or two minor things that need sorting out.
I do not think the car will be at the Pod next weekend now as there is still loads to do and to rush it would be a mistake, but now that the engine is running I am really pleased.
There is so much torque that at idle, which is steady at 2000 rpm, you need no throttle to move!
Kind regards
Carl
*cough*video*cough* :D
Congratulations Carl.

Shame you\'re not going to run at pod, but if that would mean rushing then a wise decision.
[Hint mode]
If it\'s not rushing to get the beast there and back without running it up the strip, it would be real treat to see the machine before the shows next season. [/Hint mode] :D
Hope to see you there anyway, with or without that monster so I can try and bend your ear into letting me make a trip over to Newbury just to hear her running.
Glad you have it running Carl:D As said before me would be good to see [and hear] it in the flesh as it were.

They are FD housings that are modded.

Wow.
Also just stumbled on this thread.
I would love to see the video, or even better, be invited next time its fired up, I am just up the A3 from Newbury. :)
Any chance it will be at RStock???????
Hows the car going carl? werent u going to do a track day a few months back for a shake down?
Hi Guy\'s,
A bit of an update on the car since this thread has been brought back to life again.
I am working on the car still down at my workshop, and hope to get it to "Rotorstock" but am planning to be running it before then too.
The engine has been running for quite a while but there are lots of things that take alot of time on a job like this, and some of it is unknown territory so I am having to try things out to make sure they work.
The car is fully caged but needs to be painted and there is quite a bit of bodywork to be done before that.
There are a few other mods that I need to do as well, but you can be pretty sure of one thing, I have one of the loudest rotaries you will ever hear!! If you have not heard a rotary that is not silenced before and is running N/A then you will be very suprised at how loud it is, this is one of the reasons for building the car. It is a sound that once heard is never forgotten!
Regards
Carl
;)
I am very curious to see what kind of mileage you get. I remember we spoke about the pros and cons of a p-port NA 4 rotor vs a 20b with FI over the phone. I purchased a D-series 20b shortly after that conversation. However, after watching/listening to a couple more 4-rotor videos I\'m having second thoughts.

LOL, i wont peer up it then :D
Carl...have you ever considered a life in Politics? ;)
I know out and out speed is not your motivation for building a four rotor, i just wondered how a N/A 4 rotor might compare against a big turbo 13B. How quick are other existing 4 rotors?
Not having time to work on it is a good thing isnt it? that must mean youve got plenty of paying customers knocking on your door.
Regards, Norton :p
Hey carl, is yours the only 4 rotor fd in the world??
I know mazda made the 4 rotor le mans car, but how many more 4 rotor mazda\'s are there?
BTW, incredible what you have acheived so far....well done!!!!
Dan!!
from the recent thread on ausrotary ... not that many
Glenn is building one that should come over to the UK once its done and theres at least one in NZ in an FD and of course the Scoot FD in japan.
Then theres the non FD ones ... the Queen Street racing BMW has a twin turbo quad rotor for example
The Scoot car sounds amazing when revving, like an F1 car!! So I\'ll bet Carl\'s will sound amazing too!! Can\'t wait to hear it running....:D
The only times/speeds ive so far seen for a 4 rotor are for a TWIN TURBO full chassis in Australia... Ibrahim Bros [Driven by Bill Nabhan] 7.24@191 26BTT+Lenco [Air Shifted]
The most powerful drag car rotary at the moment is the Barbie BMW 4 rotor.
I know Bill who races it for the Ibrahim Brothers (Queen Street Smash repair).
This car had 1350hp on twin turbo\'s and now has at least 250hp more on one big single turbo.
On the 1350hp engine it ran a 7.2 1/4 and 191mph terminal.
So now it should be really quick.
The Naturally Aspirated 4 rotor FD RX7 in New Zealand of Bryce Mckewan, who I also know, has ran a 10.4 at 136 mph.He is running fuel injection, and those times were done on a stock FD RX7 gearbox and diff. The car is now being modified to take a 9 inch rear and Auto gearbox.
My car certainly will not be able to go anywhere near as quick as his car due to the carbs, but I hope to get it much more modified in the future and run it turboed and fuel injected to make some serious power. That will in all likely hood mean a new engine configuration.
I am pretty sure that there may be other 4 rotor engines being built here.
The Scoot car is based on the 12a engine parts so is of a smaller capacity than mine which is built around 13b parts.
Regards
Carl
Ah right....thanks for the clear up guys.....i didnt know the scoot car was 4 rotor....i always thought it was 3 rotor (silly me :( ).....and also, whats this bmw 4 rotor all about??
I\'ve never heard or seen anything like that....is it a new beemer?
Cheers,
Dan!!

hmmmmm.... interesting!!
Is there really THAT much difference between carbs and Injection? I thought the main difference was emissions which isnt really going to be a big concern (i assume this is not really intended for road use?).
So in a couple of years time we can look forward to lots of Skyline driving spectators at Rotorstock spitting their beer back into their pints as you cross the line :D

Hi Justy,
Well,we put some miles on the car today.Had quite a bit of fun.
The car is beautifully
LOUD! There are a few minor things to sort out but we are very happy with the progress so far.It is not such a slow project anymore!
I don\'t expect any great shakes at "Rotorstock" but should hopefully have the car there for the event, and may do some slow runs in her just for the show.
It is going to take quite a bit of tuning to get the car setup as I would like it.I guess that a bit later in the year it should be running in anger.
:D

Big thanks to everyone who has been helping me!!!!!

P.S. I am still grinning!:D
Doesn\'t sound right Carl... slow runs in a 4 rotor??? Is this a big parade so nobody thinks it\'ll be competative, then you go and pull a 9 second pass? Or is it knackered all ready? LOL :D
Quite the opposite of knackered Matt,as Carl said, needs some tweaking.Sounds amazing under load, cant wait to hear it being pushed, imagine the noise at 7-8000rpm..........my god.

Good to see you yesterday Gary. Thanks for you and your Dads help too.
Should be pretty good to get some rpm on it.
Apparently we were making more noise than the jet car yesterday when it did it\'s run,and you know how far away from the track we were! When I got back to the pits a lot of people were talking about the noise, one guy said that he got up into the stand and when he saw how far away we were with the car he could not beleive how loud it was at that distance.Remember that these are hardened V8 veterans.

looking forward to seeing this one run no matter how quick/slow it is :) you must be grinning like a maniac Carl ... well done :cool

Doesn\'t sound right Carl... slow runs in a 4 rotor??? Is this a big parade so nobody thinks it\'ll be competative, then you go and pull a 9 second pass? Or is it knackered all ready? LOL :D
I think that alot of people would be happy with a parade at first.
Anyway the nines should be Geffs to have since he has a dog box internals in his gearbox now and an extra 50 horses under the bonnet, and some lightening with new panels.Tims car shouldn\'t be far off by all accounts.
I just want to be the noisiest car there.

Carl
Good to see it\'s getting there Carl, nothing like a good wind up... you don\'t seem to have bitten though, which is a shame:rolleyes: I\'ll have to try harder in future! :cool So it\'s you versus the Norton Bike Boys in a sound off then?

shouldn\'t it be 4 bikes vs the FD to be fair :D

Not yet he doesnt, not yet he doesnt and not yet he doesnt! There\'s a lot of work to do if the car is tobe there I\'m afraid.
Tim should be \'pretty\' quick tho to hold up the rotary corner, and Brian with those ports  :)

Yep, but in 2 weeks...? I may be out of touch as I\'ve been in Germany for the last 3 days with Max Phil and Chris at Nurburg :)
To my knowledge the box isnt built, the car is in lieterally as many pieces as it could be, the lightweight bits havent arrived - ohh, and he doesnt have a turbo cause I\'ve nicked it! :rollin

Hi Justy,
Well,we put some miles on the car today.Had quite a bit of fun.
The car is beautifully LOUD!
:D

Carl
hi carl,
can u put some vidz of your car? if possible?

I have driven it on the road, the performance is not known but I guess that it should be at least 550hp and maybe getting on for 600 but that will be after rotorstock that it starts to go alot quicker. At rotorstock I will take it pretty easy if I can get it there.
Hvae you thought about a short block triple for your car?Turboed of course!
Regards
Carl:)
Good luck at rotostock, I have to take the bloody BMW, never mind. it\'s awsome on fuel, 48MPG and still 205BHP.
Short block, not that clever, I think Pip is going to rebuild an EX Cosmo lump.

:god Ho Yes, this baby is sos so LOUD!
Fair dooos, I think people expect too much, It ain\'t been in there long. Give the guy a break. I recon it needs lots of tweeky things before she starts to fly. I recon Carl will be looking at near 6/650 BHP then.
GOOD LUCK WITH IT MATE:wave
the sound of this engine is some thing else.
some guys sat behind me said.all noise n no go,
hu what do thay no.if thay new what carls intentions r thayd understand y the slow time,
good work carl:D
I cant begin to describe this beast having heard it for real on Sat.
Absolutely pure evil.
It was great to finally meet you Carl enjoyed the chats when you werent too busy lol!. I\'m gonna watch the footage tomorrow and see if i can get the same noise level from my speakers :D .
Anyway hope all goes well with KABOOM!!!!! let me know when your next running and I\'ll come down and lend a hand if you need it I\'ll even bring some ear defenders;)
Regards Jase
:wave
Thanks for the kind comments guy\'s and offer of help Jason.
I was not really stressing the car at all, just trying my level best to take it real easy, there are lots of little things that still need doing, and a couple of big things too!It would be so easy just to put your foot down and let it go,but I need to address a few issues along the way to make it reliable and quick, not just quick for a short time and then it won\'t start because it is worn out!
I will get there in the end.
A project like this takes alot of time, and money!2 commodoties I do not have in great abundance.
Still at least you guys now know what an unsilenced naturally aspirated rotary sounds like, and that was the original intention. Some quicker times are yet to come.
Regards
Carl

Hugely appreciated too Carl - it\'s impossible to explain how it sounds unless you\'ve heard it \'up close and personal\' (i.e. from within a mile or so!).
The sight of the exhaust flattening the grass for a good 10\' behind it was also impressive. Better not try it near dry grass though or you might see the project go up in flames!
This car and Ross\'s 10.43 were the highlights for me - even better than the 9.3 liner!
Iain
I was in the loo\'s (without Gurj for a change), when Carl\'s car fired up. Can\'t really miss it... *lol*
And to run quarter times like that when taking it "easy" when other cars were breaking their necks and getting similar times... That\'s going to be a monster when it\'s done...!!!
Good luck with it, and I can\'t wait to see a proper run out of it!
Good to finally see the beast in the flesh and hear her running! Especially after the number of conversations we\'ve had about it over the last six months or so! Well done Carl, amazing piece of automotive engineering.
Well done for running it chap, had a smile on me face.
Top job and look forward to more 4 rota action
J.
I think the thread title needs and update again :rollin
\'Carls 4 rotor project moves noisily along\' :D
definetly one of the highlights of the event :) whens the engine going in the rx3 then Carl :D (your other rx3 shell would look fab back halved and with some serious slicks under it :D )
my god!! that thing makes a lovely noise. Was something else to see her running and hear that incredible noise. I swear you could drown out an earthquake with that.
Oh yeah, and thanks again for finding the time amongst everything else to take that trip out to map my car. She purred up the strip and all the way back to London last night! Just want it to sound like your now ;) ;) ;)

I totally agree Mike infact I\'d even go as far as saying it should be made into a sticky thread.
consider it stuck ... what we need now is a video. I\'m sure I saw Glenn with a video camera so it shouldn\'t be very long :)

I\'ve got 1 aswell, Anna had trouble holding the camera steady from all the vibration/noise when Carl started satans chariot up, plus we got the 1st run on film.
I would love to see some video footage.
From in the car I cannot tell what it is like from the outside. With my helmet on and all of the noise going backwards it is pretty comfortable and fairly quiet,so I have no idea what it sounds like to you guy\'s.
A vid would hopefully give me some idea of what you guys were seeing and hearing!
I really appreciate all of the kind comments.I nearly did not bring the car because it is a bit premature really,I was still working on her at 3.00pm Saturday afternoon, but managed to get her into a reasonable working order to demo it,all be it but tamely at the moment.I know that some people may have been dissapointed with how it was pretty slow, but it will improve as time goes on.
I will start to do some serious testing in the next few weeks and months.

Thanks for that Glenn,
Good to see it go up the strip.
I had a bit of a miss at around 6000 rpm happening at each gear change,it is good for me to use and see what is going on.
On the Monday I was taking it about 1000 to 1500 rpm higher on medium throttle, having made an adjustment or two,but did not want to go any higher for the sake of the bearings.
I obviously need to get some miles on it and then tune it for 9500/10,000 rpm.The timing is very conservative at the moment too,so when I put a little more advance in that will increase the power alot.
Regards
Carl
If you want a driver to take it up the strip so you can watch and note helpful things to do in the tuning Carl just give me a shout :D ;) :rollin
You will have to buy me some earplugs though :p
awesome video ... the noise is still great even via the speakers !
you can really notice the misfire on the video, I can\'t imagine how difficult it must be to tune somthing like that on carbs ... who on earth do you ask for help for example!
I hope this has been posted up on the aussie forums to quell some of the doubters.
I\'m sure the man will have it on efi soon enough...
Who was doubting what on ausrotary?
a few people were getting in a flap when Carl was asking what turbo he should run on his 4 rotor ... nothing major just the usual forum stuff.
Carl, its totally fantastic.....cant wait to see the progress of it now its up and running!
Good luck with everything....it will be monsterous when you get it testing, and tuning etc etc.
Nice one that man! :wave
:wave So, were you there last week ??????????
Hows that triple going, is it getting there?????
Hi Carl,
Been listening to your exhaust again, are you running with the rotors 90deg rotation from one another, cos it sure didnt sound like it. Just curious like.:)

Yes,Just low rpm that\'s all.The engine only fires evenly when under load due to the PP porting and being on carbs. The sound is uneven at all other times.
Regards
Carl
Ah I see! Thanks! :)
What firing sequence are they?? Does it make a difference (is 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 result in a different character to 1 - 3 - 2 - 4)?
Hi Carl,
How goes the 4 rotor? When are you going EFI?
hey carl hows the 4 rotor going? wats the progress so far? have u completed the running of your engine yet?

Just an update on my car,
I have not been able to touch it since rotorstock, but will be doing some work on it in the next few weeks.
Hope to be out there soon.
Some sposorship would be nice!LOL!

back in may carl was faced with the decision to either go to rotorstock with his new grp front end in the white gel coat or paint the WHOLE car in mat black.
unfortunatly for the poor bastard that has to thinnners all that sh!t off he chose the latter. about a day was waisted just cleaning the mess off, not to mention the ruined pair of trainers and the waist of gallons of thinner. :reallymad
but anyway, as i happend to be in the workshop that is sorting the mess out i took the liberty of taking some snaps.
here you go.
they are going up one at a time because thats how my computer wants to play it.
and another
as this takes me so long to post pics i might have to do the rest tomorrow
You got a new job Jase?!

photos have come out crap. they dont show the paint off as it is in the flesh :reallymad
mmm thumnails ?? here is two more
not perfect but good enough for a race car :)
because of the transparent pearl making up most of this colour, more paint has to be applied. this is 5 litres of blue. hope you like it carl.
Bit of a hijack but looks mint Jase, I presume this is what u do for a living? Are u always looking for work? probably not, but if you find your self with any time spare I may be interested some time :)
Nice one - will it be as fast as it looks next year Carl?

looking good :D
just what it needed, nice coat of paint, sorry coats of paint,
Big thnx to Jase for all of the work he has done in painting the car.
The more I look at it the more I know I have chosen the right colour, the pics do not do the paint job any justice.
I know that Jason has done alot more work than he originally expected too.
Brilliant!

Its looking very tasty in its new colour, are you going to show her off at RS3 Carl ?

Will it be running at RS3 Carl?
does it still exist?????? Seems an age since we have heard anything about the beast :Hammer
from what I hear on the grape vine..... it should be louder and more offensive than last year!
I was down at carls new place last friday again, yeah, it still exists! ha ha :) Hes playing with engine a little bit, and was hoping to be able to get it to RS3. Wouldnt tell me too much tho! Im hoping he does take it, as Ive not heard it running yet, and am feeling a little left out! :D
Andy
It\'s one bloody loud thing. Was a shame for Carl as most of the poeple there that new nothing about it just kept mumbling all show no go. So I wouldn\'t have thought he\'s going to take it up the strip without some more tuning and running this time! :D
Hope he brings it :cool
I am working on her at the moment, but not sure if she will be there this year.

Is it on EFI now out of interest? any thing else in the offing for RS?
Carl you owe it to all your fans to get the car there -even if you don\'t put it up the strip....we just want to hear that amazing noise again..... :)
I would love to get her there, but we have pulled the engine down to mod it further and so it may not make it this year.
We will try,but not promising.
Regards
Carl
Is it going to be even more noisy with further mods... :2eek
Hi Carl
Any progress since your last post? Having looked through the thread I guess I saw it in a fairly advanced state when I randomly stumbled accross your workshop and you showed me round earlier this year.
Do you have any pics of the eccentric shaft before it was put into the motor? I\'m intrigued about loads of technical stuff. Any chance of a quick rundown on the tech? How the bearings are set up, how on earth you put it together, how many pieces the eccentric is, stuff like that? I\'m hungry for a bit few more details if they\'re not carefully guarded sectrets :D
My FD is running now, btw. Thanks for the advice, it was a breeze to put back together after I talked to you guys. Looking forward to rebuilding the other motor now.
Cheers :Thumbs-up
Ian
We wnna see it, we wanna see it! get that beast moving! :driving
Well hopefully i\'ll get 2 c this monster in the flesh this week :-)
