as in the title of the post really......anyone know off the top of their head?:)
Nope!

OK - is there a sensor to feed to a gauge on an FD3, or do you also need to drill the sump?
Best not to drill the sump...as you have no way, unless you are rebuilding the engine, of removing the swarf.
One idea is to drill the sump plug...but this is actually a pain in the arse!
The other idea is to run a sensor housing in the oil lines...and then you can put one in there, or get a new sandwich plate that has sensor bosses built in
i need to do this to but i just dont know what my oil pipe line size is(non standard all braided) jon do you supply sandwhich plates that will house a sensor?and how much?
i have a spare sumpplug and looked at drilling and tapping that but thought it would end up a bit low to the tarmac and only the tip would be just inside so did not know how accurate it would be.
I think that the sump on my car has already been drilled - there is a sensor mounted that is no longer connected to anything. This would also make sense as I know the car used to have some aftermarket gauges that were removed.
I guess I\'ll have to get under the car and have a look - but I can\'t think the sensor that I have would be for anything else. I suppose I could rig up a gauge to it, but I\'m not sure if different gauges would have different sensors?
Sandwich plates are the way forwards :) Ones that fit between block and oil filter.

Yeah! GReddy do one that fits and has two bosses for sensors. Just make sure you use the smaller oil filter of the two, otherwise you have to *ahem* clearance the top of it with a mallet to get it in under the TB adjuster screws :HammerDon\'t ask how I know.....:o
lol! How does that work when you have to rotate it to get it in? do you have to \'clearance\' the entire filter, or is it an \'interference fit? :D
Or do you need to remove the TB to fit the filter?!
Errrm, yeah, it was the latter! :o It was all apart anyway, I never even knew there was a smaller size oil filter until I ordered some the next time I changed the oil from a mate who works delivering Blueprint stuff. Then I thought "Ah. I\'m a fdukwit then". Even went to the expense of buying an oil fliter relocation unit so I wouldn\'t have to take the TB off every time :rollin
I\'m sure greddy do one - but I bet it costs northwards of £150.....:2Confused
greddy style sandwich plates are cheap as chips on ebay / or bit more expensive rhdjapan etc, think i paid about £30 two years back. The small oil filters fit absolutely fine. hth :-)
think this generic one should fit:

That\'s awesome - I\'ll get one on order.:Thumbs-up
I was gonna order to then i checked my thread size on my oil temp gauge,it\'s a 10x1 metric thread. the one listed on ebay for the rx7 is 1/8 npt so check what you\'ve got/getting.
I\'ve got a GReddy sandwich plate on mine, like I said, but I did find this whilst mooching about t\'web

Not much info on that page, but it does state that it\'s an adaptor for fitting an oil sender into the sump plug, which you asked about earlier. Dunno how it all works, though
Rob - I\'ve not bought the gauge yet, so will definately check the fitting on the sender when I get one.:yes
