Title: Group buy on Feed style FRP side steps
Post by: AshRX on June 13, 2009, 10:45:03 AM
Been speaking to a contact of mine who has started making RX7 and Skyline bits. He has started doing the Feed style side steps and I have to admit they look the dogs danglies.

I know the going rate for these is anything from £150-£200, so he has said if I can get 10+ people he can do them for £100 + delivery.

These will come fully prepped and if I ask nicely he will properly paint them satin black or additional cost the same colour as your car. Delivery will be £15 by courier for next day delivery.

Anyone interested??

AshRX

It maybe a silly question but are the skirts very costly to attach if they are painted in the right colour by your contact?  What is involved in the attchatment?

Michaelb

depends on colour tbh

Piece of cake to fit. Usually 4 or 5 rivets and they are on. I can usually fir them in 10 minutes for both sides

Standard mazda white / chaste white I have a white 96 FD and whenever I had anything re-sprayed the mach was pretty good

Excuse my ignorance but how do you attach the skirt to the car?

line the skirt under the sill, use a clamp one end to hold it. Drill through the skirt and sill. Put a rivet through and basically work your way from one end to the other.

Price  - I will find out tonight for you

Ash - thanks for the shot

When would the skirts be ready to take to Kerim to be fitted?

When would you be looking to collect the money? Before your mate does the skirts or after? ( painted)

Do the skirts make the car aly lower? Mine is 5\' of the ground, I probably would not want the car to go any lower. are the skirt higher then the metal stuff running along under the car on both sides? Incedentally what is that called?

Michaelb

I can talk to him later tonight but im sure he could do them sooner. I was going to let it run for 3 weeks as people who want them are on holiday but im sure I can work round that.

TBH it will only lower it by an 1/2 - 1 inch so will give you plenty of clearance still. It wont be lower than your your front bumper.

That would be the sill

Hi

One more question – Have you seen Kerim’s monster? It should be ready for RS6 ( car may have close to 800BHP, it will go to the track, on the track off the track and driven back home apparently  The car looks amazing

Is that the skirts on Kerim\'s RX7– if so they look fantastic and they are in white too

Not in a ruch ATM, but I may take the car to Marbella for a month will give you plenty notice if I need to rush with the skirts

Michaelb

Can do dude, but the skirts are rounded at each end to match the flow of the FD body.

You could cut them but that would be down to you.

If you can 10-15 of you I imagine he may do a group buy for FC ones

ok thanks for ur input.

i dont mind cutting as pref sq rear.
just more worried if there is enough clearance for the body work and i dont know how they attach to the body / sill.

if u dont mind bringing one or two to R6 then that would be much appreciated, alse i giv a a ding when im free and can visit ur mate who makes them n try see what would fit etc.
