Title: New pads & problem
Post by: rx7ben on June 05, 2009, 04:46:49 PM
Hi guys

my brother fitted some mintex pads allround on my Fd. Ive done about 100 miles on them and thay dont feel any better then the ones i took off that were down to the metal allmost. How long do new pads take to bed in. Allso there very spongee (so do thay need bleeding) and sometimes when i come to a slow stop theres a metal clonking sound comeing from the front drivers side.

Any ideas, i no i will have to get them looked at but was wondering if anyone on hear could shed some light.

thanks.

Hi Ben,

Real difficult to diagnose this one down the internet but I will say that the clonk disturbs me enough to say I feel that if your Brother is a proper mechanic ask him to recheck if not please take the car to a mechanic as this is brakes as if it\'s a brake pin thats been either left out or has come out then the results could be terrifying.

Just thought did the caliper get removed? I ask because I remember a member who had his front caliper fall off and jam the wheel after a "specialist" who does not advertise on MRC had just worked on the car!.

So you can see I\'m not scare mongering, brakes is serious stuff!

Pads can sometimes glaze over it bit....when you take them off, ruff them up with sand paper, to get the top (possibly shiny, glazed layer) off...worked for my car!
