Title: Think i just blew my engine :-(
Post by: Rotary_Menace on May 31, 2009, 11:20:57 AM
Right so.......

Its been a little bit funny recently, very hard to start, had to take the plugs out each time give them a clean, and a jump each time., drove fine once started though. been off the road for a few weeks i was happy as a dog with 2 D***s yesterday when i got it started by the above method went to a bbq showing of one of the loves of my life. Started first thing in the morning, went to take the misses home returned and later in the morning she would not start!!!!!

I know heat is the no1 killer of rotaries, but my add coolant buzzer has been going off alot even though it has loads of coolant, so I always took it steady to let it cool down and i had intended to take it to WGT next weekend. however once started the temp was going from 80 - 120 fluctuating alot. so kicking out alot of smoke that i had thought was from flooding i attempted to drive home,  very worried about the temps. anyways she gave up about 1/4 miles from my house so i pushed it back. there is now smoke coming out of the radiator cap as well as its fairly oily and it won\'t start.

Is my engine KIA?

im think about buying this and swapping the engines over what do you think?

Really? that would be awesome of you! im still working on a plan of action. but i\'ve bought a good engine and rolling chassis of jit, he was also kind enough to give me engine removal dvd as well. hopefully going to pick it up on sunday.

will probably drop the engine (out of the spare) and take it someone to have them swapped out, thats the best plan i can come up with at the min.

Cheers neil

That engine hoist will do the job fine.
Just make sure you have some prybars and a set of spanners as well ~:D
