Title: Heat Sign
Post by: JTW86 on May 28, 2009, 06:04:57 PM
Was driving normally today and suddenly the heat sign on the center dash light came on, water temp and oil temp was normal, no signs of over heating.
put my foot down on the breakes, the sign turned off instantly, drove off again, the heat sign came on again around 5mins but this time i was driving downhill, the heat light was flickering on and off, then it turned off, weird:confused: loose wire maybe?

heat ? could it be the same as low coolant?

My rad cap on the egi had slowly deteriorated meaning it was slowly releasing coolant. There was still plenty in the resevior but not enough in the system. This caused to buzzer to go off. Have a look at the cap, if its dead i\'ll send out out another one. TII right?

dont think its the coolant, water temp on my defi was showing normal water temps, also there was no buzzing sound.
i\'ll have alook at the cap tho just in case.

Apexi Power FC ECUs flash the heat light on FDs to warn of detonation and stuff. Have you got an Apexi on it? Might be that if so, dunno if it\'s the same for FCs though

Thats kinda what I was thinking of, I know the heat light sometimes comes on when there is no cat there, but I thought it was just for FDs

I\'ve got a Apex D-Jetro ECU, dunno if thats the same as the Power FC tho.
The light hasnt came back on since 5-6pm and everything seems to be fine.
hope its nothing serious tho.
I download pdf manuals from rx7club for the fc and found out the warning light is for Overheat Exhaust. :s
its the first time i\'ve seen this light come on too.

I always thought that the heat light was there to warn you if the cat was getting blocked and hence too higher exhaust temps.  If you are running decat then it might well be too higher temps or just a faulty sensor. If its the one i\'m thinking off then thats under the drivers seat attached to the floor.
