Gearbox Wine In 2nd And 4th Is It Shot What Can I Do?

Seriously, not worth rebuilding the box unless you\'re going for big power.
there are three or four on ebay for around the £200 mark. There\'s one with only 20k miles for £500 as well, tempted to buy it myself :mmmm

sorry im in a sarcastic mood,rebuild would be expensive im sure so either uprate to hks sequentiel or get another one in there.
have you tryed changing the oil in it yet?
may not work but its cheaper and easyer than changing the box.

Not really answering the OP\'s question though guys - is it actually something to worry about? Mine whines a bit in 2nd and 4th as well, but other than that I\'ve got no symptoms that would indicate a problem.
I\'m just going to carry on nailing it until it implodes, but would be good to know whether I need to have a spare \'box in the garage right now or whether there will be other \'warnings\' before it actually gives up the ghost!

Ill check the liquid levels in it. The car was standing for 9 months while i got the new engine and single turbo sorted. (easy = nope)
in 4th when i was doing about 40mph and put foot down it used to whine not a nice noise.. since i changed the clutch it all stopped whining.
