Title: Anyone removed there rear seats
Post by: SleepyDude on May 24, 2009, 11:27:15 PM
I am considering removing the useless rear seats. They annoy me lol

What can be put there instead? Ideas or pic\'s of what you have done with your rear seats would be helpful.

Put two massive subwoofers there. LOL

Or just carpet them and/or use them as spaces to hold your trackday helmets or perhaps water injection setups..

well I guessing that they are heavyish and removing them will provide some weight reduction, but at same time don\'t really want massive empty space.

I thought removing them and moving the runners for the front seats back abit as more leg room would be nice, then not sure about rest of space? Maybe a speaker system like in dodge vipers with speakers down the centre?

Or you could swap them the the Mazda rear bins.

I think just removing them and saving some weight is a good plan but i dont want a weird empty and untidy space left behind?

rear bins are handy, I had my seats out when taking the multichanger out (for the cables) of the boot but there wasn\'t any real weight in them think the two brackets holding the rear of the seat were the heaviest part.

I was considering keeping them out and relocating my battery in behind the passenger seat but decided against it as I\'m not the best at fabricating.

Saw an FD that had it boxed off with loads of speakers mounted where the seats were, suppose its a good use of space if your into that sort of thing (personally I\'m not).

i took mine out for a bit, looked a bit crap as all chipped paint underneath but i reckon if you got it all sprayed would look well smart, could still use it for storing stuff aswell, ive got a pic at home will have a look for it later

Not much weight in the rear seats.

Mine have been removed to make way for the rollcage and fuel cell :Laugh

Well my main aim is to remove weight, from what you guys have said removing the weight won\'t really effect that.

A role cage would add weight so not really what I\'m after. Guess im sticking with plain old useless seats then lol

Haha amen to that. Im not much of an interior man myself so dont care to much if the inside looks untidy. Its the exterior and how well she goes that i care for :)

I\'ve taken out my rear seats, only the back rest part though, couldnt figure out how to remove the base part... the thing is, they dont weigh anything so power/weight ratio wont really be affected, but it does free up the extra space if you happen to be carrying a lot, I would suggest getting one of those bungee nets though so if you brake hard it doesnt all come out and smack you in the back of the head, lol!!!
