Title: a little help please guys
Post by: the hat on May 24, 2009, 02:02:22 AM
picked up the fc on thursday night and im completely in love but have some questions

1. wipers dont park correctly and intermittent setting does not work correctly?

2.passenger headlight does not retract back down checked relay and is ok also replaced motor but still not joy?

3.it has an open diff  was gona weld it but is there any other options for an lsd apart from an expensive 1.5/2 wa?

4.can anyone copy the ecu pin out for the ecu for an 89 fc3s turbo 2 so i can fit my avcr?

5.what would be the next step in tuning current spec is street ported rebuilt egine full exhaust system induction kit rats nest removed all other non required gubbins removed as far as i can see?

6.what are the optionsfor a rev limiter as im terrified of over revving it while sideways can a bee-r rev limiter fit?

thanks for any help folks

hiya

the wiper problem - yeah thats really common - if you search the web - you can replace one of the relays inside it to fix the speed issue - mine only works on one speed - but its fine for the MOT

the passenger headlight - hum mm thats an interesting one - i had a problem with mine and i just ended up winding it up and down manually about 10 times and from then on its been fine :D

the ecu pin out ... errrrrrrrrrr....im sure i have seen it on the site somewhere... i just have NO idea where .. sorry

depending on what ECU you have in the car - it will have a rev limiter - so i wouldnt worry about the ;)

Here is the writeup to fix the wipers:

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/WIPER/wiper.html

I think prof has a problem with his popups as well

You can fit an FD torsion diff straight into the FC housing :)

Here is a bit of help with the AVCR:

http://www.fd3s.net/avc-r_install.html

I have pdf manuals for the AVC-R as I have one fitted to my car already :) if you let me know your email address I will send those to you

You can fit an FD diff into a FC housing apparently. If you do a search on here you should find some info on it.
Try this for the ecu diagram.

I managed to get hold of a second hand wiper unit as mine had the same problem. I don\'t think its that hard to do but if you can get a whole unit its even easier.
As for the rev limmiter. Mine revs to about 8K and the buzzer comes on at 7K. Now I have been told that you should regularly (like every time!) red line the rotary engine to clear build up from inside the engine. How true this is i\'m not sure, but I do do it and it makes me smile nothing has gone bang yet (famous last words!) so I wouldn\'t worry about it too much. Just dont runn it at red line for long as with any engine I suppose.

yep, as they say "A red line a day keeps the carbon way" The rotary engine loves to be rev\'d so dont be shy in taking it to the limiter. Plus you may get some flames too!

My 1991 turbo II had this as well, the buzzer goes off, but there is no fuel cut or anything lol you don\'t need to rev it past about 7 anyhow, I found my max power was at 6800 :) anything more and you would need underdrive pulleys so the waterpump doesn\'t cavitate

I will send you the manauls :)

yes i understand the no need to rev the car that high but when your sideways your not really paying that much attention to how high the revs go

Just make sure you have uprated the rad for the extra heat that the engine would produce at high revs, also install an underdrive pully if you are constantly at high revs, on the plus side, the more you rev it, the more oil gets injected :)

Hi,

I´m a member of the dutch Rx-7 club and I had the same problem with my wiperunit from our FC convertible. After several months of seeking for the replacements, I found the right relays. So I replaced the relays and now it works again. In the last months I have already replaced several relays here in the Netherlands and even from Germany. I also check the unit if the dashboardlight is working. It doesn´t matter if the unit is from a coupe or convertible.

The popup light thing seems common as well, my passenger side stopped working and i put it up and down once , was in the garage for a few weeks came out nd its working now, might be some water trapped in about the wiring?

The relay is difficult to remove. The first 3 units went wrong (broken down). But now I have the technique to remove them. Because the print is old (almost 20 years) and it is dubble sided. I solder new sealed relays in it, so the water can not come into the relay. (which is the most commen reason)
