Hi,
Had my FD\'s air con regassed when I was at WGT a month ago. Worked okay for a few days but now it no longer cools. The compressor seems to be coming on when the A/C switch is pressed but no real change in temperature happens. What could be the problem? Not sure if it was N2 pressure tested when they recharged it. Fuse under the bonnet is okay.
Is there a diagram of the A/C system?
Don\'t think it\'s related but the A/C sensor never illuminates on my Power FC Commander. I recall that this can be quite normal?
Thanks
Angus
Check the sight glass under the bonnet in front of the battery, get someone to switch the a/c on with the engine running and you should see bubbles then if charged correctly it will go clear after a few minutes, if not its low on gas and if no bubbles at all then its probably empty and will need a pressure test and regas.
usually when air con systems are regassed they are leak tested with a uv sensitive dye first.
Hmmm, no bubbles at all in the sight glass when the A/C is turned on. Looks like I have no gas which might mean a leak.
Is there anything else that could cause the problem bearing in mind it worked for a few days after re-gas?
Thanks
Angus
Does sound like the gas has leaked out you need to get an a/c engineer or garage to check the pressures before you can start to diagnose any problems, 95% of the time it\'ll be the gas thats leaked.
Cheers Danny
as above get it tested with the uv dye which is common practice. any leaks will show up as bright green under black light.
Is the aircon pump clutch engaging? Might be too big a gap for the electro magnetic clutch to cross, and need adjusting
Thanks for all the replies. Not sure how to check the clutch? Is it likely to be the problem given that my aircon was working for a few days after re-gas?
Found a local specialist so will get them to look at it and let you know....
Angus
Check the clutch by turning on the aircon and seeing if the clutch goes "clunk" and engages! :) Or even better, let the aircon bloke sort it out for you :D. Probably not the clutch if it worked at first then. Might be as simple as just needing to turn it over manually a few times to prime it all and get everything flowing again if it\'s been near empty for a while
