Title: Alloy wheels
Post by: davyv on May 09, 2009, 08:22:19 PM
I have a crack on one of my rear wheels and its getting worse. They are five spoke and the problem is its an RSR and with only 500 made there\'s little chance of getting a spare. Can you get it repaired.

one of my dad\'s M-Sport wheels was cracked in the middle parallel to the rim. he got a guy call Paul Stapley to fix it.

The crack is across one of the spokes. Did it do much damage to the face of the wheel where it was welded at the back.

RSR wheels are the same as the 17in 5 spokes on the RS

Yes they are the same but the RSR only came in gunmetal, did the RS?. All the RS i have seen have silver wheels.

I wouldn\'t repair these!

The shock loadings the wheels take is phenominal....if you hit a pot hole they could split, and you could have a very nasty crash.

Mag wheels are x-rayed even if there are no visible cracks and thrown if one is found.  Somethings are just not worth risking

I totally agree with the above, definately not worth the risk.

My wheel sizes 17x8.5jj x50 and 17x8jj x50. What wheels sizes will be ok as i cant find many wheels in those sizes.

You should be able to get RS wheels, just had mine powder coated black and I\'m sorry to say they look better than the brown-ish grey RSR wheels :)
