Just had my car in for an MOT test and failed on a few things.
1. Nearside headlamp not working on main beam
2. Windscreen has a sticker obstruction by more than 10mm within zone
3. Nearside rear exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases
4. Offside front shock absorber has a serious fluid leak
5. Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content excessive

top it off road tax is due for renewal as well
and i have to get this sorted within 10days!
Really don\'t wanna SORN the 7 as it would be a pain in the arse to UN-SORN it :(
How long do I have to renew me road tax? i heard its 14days?
Anyone near Glasgow willing to help a fellow FC owner get this sorted?
Problem is i dont know who can fix the APEX N1 Pro shock :( and i guess it\'ll take more than 10days to get the shock fixed :(
well i had a mot fail last week wednesday, bit of welding to be done, mot was already out by 4 days, and only taxed it today tax was 6 days out. No fine yet through post, there is suposedly a 14 day unoffical limit to get your tax sorted, if you fail you mot i would think that would be a good enough reason just get it sorted as quickly as possible and make sure you got all your documents in the car, just incase you get pulled over when taking it to mot centre, at least you will be able to prove what your saying. Failing that, get it MOT somewhere a little less strict if you know what i mean. ;) Dont unsorn it it will be a ball ache and will take more time which will = more fines. As for the shocker borrow some off someone or stick some stock shocks on as a quick fix to pass, wish i could help ya out mate. good luck

Why is it a PITA to unsorn a car? You just buy the tax for it!! Can all be done on-line.
1. headlamp- is this sealed beam or replaceable bulb ?
2. shock will need a rebuild or get standard on there for now,try wiping it just before the MOT but trouble is now they know about it.
3. Exhaust will need replacing or get it patched if its weldable
4. Remove the airfilter and clean it, do you have a cat? airpump? Also is this a TII or EGI and what was the CO reading? were the HC ok?
yeah need to get this sorted asap, was gonna buy a set of new coilovers from a member here since i knew it was leaking (i blame the UK roads) but had not enough funds atm.
my tax is 6days off as of now if i cant get it sorted and tax by next week will prob have to SORN it:( shoulda bought 6months tax then 1yr after last year :P
It was a sticker on the bottom of the windscreen :P

Well i havent personally unsorn a car yet but i\'ve heard people saying its PITA to unsorn.
1. The guy said just replace the bulb
2. yeah i know thats the thing, i dont know who would rebuild it since its a APEX N1 Pro Drift Spec coilovers
3. should be weldable
4. its a JDM TII, de-cated, no airpump, not sure about the co reading guy said it was off the roof
i kno a guy who might have some coilovers.. but maybe more than what u wanna spend, about 400 ish mark.

Just spoke a different MOT tester and he told me that cos my FC is a 89 and its also imported the emissions shouldnt matter and i shouldnt have failed the emissions.

Ok so basically if i was going to unsorn the car all i need to do is go in to the post office with my V5, MOT, Insurance and Tax renewal form, pay £120 for year, get me tax and thats it unsorn?
if its already out of date wouldnt it flag up on the system that its 5 days out of date or what ever and then send a fine???
Thats what I always thought. Why would it be any more difficult than that. If you have all the necessary documents then I don\'t see a problem.
just play sneaky ( ish ) - declare sorn online ( takes 20 seconds ) - then when you are ready to tax the car - either do it online or in the postoffice - it is that simple
because its declared sorn - you might only beable to tax it from the 1st of a month , where as if its taxed you can usually do it from around the 14th of a month ( as you have already paid for that month )
so becareful with that - no point walking in on the 20th May for example - as they will start the 6 months tax period from the 1st May
and you dont need Tax to get it to a MOT station ( or an MOT even aslong as its booked in ) - just insurance
so even if the MOT runs out and its declared SORN you can still drive it to the MOT place
i have done this loads of times to be honest ;)
me again :D - we bought a car for the better half and when we came to tax it - it had been declared sorn ( no idea how as it had a tax disc that was valid ??? ) and we had to wait till the end of the month OR pay for the current month
My daily car failed it\'s MOT today. pain in the arse! :(

For the CO test - they should have done the 3.5 % CO / 1200 PPM HC test (no cat test) as CAT\'s weren\'t legally required at this time - and for imports weren\'t required until 96.
May just declare it as sorn if not Friday.

To take a look at it this Friday and see how it goes.

Your posting in the wrong place mate. In my opinion, Fd\'s don\'t touch FC\'s :D (puts on flame suit)
Though if you want an FD, now is the time to buy. You can pick up single turbo\'d ones with a recentish rebuild for £5k
Just remeber FC\'s are much cooler :wiggle

I love my fc there\'s nth major wrong with mines just the occasional flat battery LOL but that\'s most my fault (stupid lights :p)
Engine is still as strong as ever since I got it two years ago.
Turns head everywhere I go.

Just came back from work and checked my headlights and surprise surprise the nearside head lamp works both driving beam and main beam, bloody arse failed me for a not working main beam when it does work!!!:Grrr
mine do that i thought it adds character....:D
