Title: Rebuilding rear lighs..... stick, or not to stick??
Post by: Jono FD3 on May 04, 2009, 09:54:26 AM
Like the title says guys...... gonna be rebuilding the rear lights today after an LED conversion, would you recoment just wacking it back together with the original super mazda goop that\'s there, or would you recomend using something like tigerseal to bond them back (along with the Mazda goop) or clean the goop out & put fresh tigerseal in???

Cheers
Jono

I cleaned out all the Mazda spec gloop myself when I did mine, dude. It\'s hot glue originally I think, so it\'ll never work quite as well a second time even if you get it nice and hot before re-sealing. I thought it was better to spend an hour or so in front of the football scraping it all out with a screwdriver to ensure a good seal than to have to do them again in a few months cos they\'ve turned into little portable fishtanks :Giggle.

I used silicone adhesive sealant to put them back together. was gonna use Sikaflex until I thought if I ever did want to get them apart again, Sikaflex or Tigerseal or whatever would make it a proper pig! The little screws should keep em together anyway, the silicone just keeps them waterproof
