Title: UIM polishing question via removal‏ (FD)
Post by: evolutioncheng on May 03, 2009, 10:09:36 AM
Can anyone tell me whether the car needs a remap or if there are any immediate problems or dangers to the engine other than being able to fully boot the car when cold if the secondary UIM butterfly\'s are removed.
I can see a few people have done it here and report it a worthwhile mod but would rather you ask you first.

Main reason really is the polishing lol.

I would of thought the standard ECU would be able to cope with it :D

I know with the FC the secondary butterflies open slowly when its cold so you can\'t damage the engine when you \'boot it from cold\' you would still need to wait till the engine is up to temperature before booting it. I think if you remove the secondary butterflies you have to be much smoother when coming off the thottle, you can\'t just slam the throttle plates closed like you can do with the secondary butterflies.
