1/.Looking to drop a t2 and box into my egi, would i be right in saying id have to get hold of a new prop shaft, lsd and half shafts?? Had a qoute of for a t2 lump and transmission all plumed in for £1600.
Just wondered if im going to have to get my hands on any extra bits or will i just be able to drop the t2 box onto my egi prop shaft??
2/.Next one,what the difference between a 6 port engine and a 4 port??
And which one would i have mine being a 1988 egi??
Im a proper rotary virgin, its a learning curve for me
If anyone could help that would be fantastic.

1) Is your egi shell really really good? If its nout special i\'d be looking at buying a TII, unless that price is for a very low milage or very recently rebuilt engine. Not sure what the half shafts are, but your right about the rest. Don\'t forget a TII ECU, and fuel pump, maybe a few other things, think someone mentioned it on here recently. Also i\'d have a look on rx7 club.com, the conversion is very popular in america. Make sure you look for a s4 non- turbo to s5 turbo conversion though.
2) the 6 port is used in the Non- turbo cars. Similar idea to vtec. Basically come 4.5k revs, you\'ve got a butterfly valve which opens two extra intake ports (one per rotor) this basically gives you power up high, and keeps the torque (or lack of) down low.
So you deff have a 6 port. I think the rx8 engine has a similar system but another set of ports on top of that. The 4 port turbo engines have bigger ports i assume as they flow alot more gas.
Also, what kind of power are you going for? Or are you going to want alot more power in the future? If your have with 230 bhp, why not go for a renesis engine (rx8), it would be more reliable and more unique. Just an idea
good luck :D
im thinking about doing the same thing in the future will be intresting to see whether or not its a easy job to do keep us updated with pics and problems mate.
There is a Norwegen guy on here called Rasmus (hope that is spelt right), I can\'t remember his username unfortunately. He is in the process of doing this to his Egi. If you can get hold of him he could help I would think.
Check out this site, a guy has turboed a EGI 6 port lump:

He was running virtually 400 BHP at the wheels through the NA transmission for over 2 years - he\'s just recently blown the diff on it. This car has a lot of nice touches. You can see it running on youtube as well - beats the pants off 5L V8\'s on the strip :):)
You could always supercharge the engine. Would probably be easier than turbo charging as you don\'t have the problems with the exhaust manifold
Perhaps also look at an RX8 gearbox and engine, I know there is an FC EGI that has that conversion
Yep James H had Reworx do his Renesis conversion
I guess the question you need to ask is how much power are you wanting?
I have a TII diff and half shafts if you need them all out of the car. I do have a TII gearbox as well but two minds on selling that as a spare is always handy but I may part with it, I also have the prop shaft which will should mate up with your TII box and diff. I am not totally sure how much a EGI diff will stand from a TII engine but they are different.
As for the rest of it then there is still quite a bit of work to bring everything up to standard for a TII lump but certainly an ideal time to get a decent ECU in there. You will have to sort the engine loom out which is a lot of work. I have a complete S5 loom for the car but not the engine so make sure your engine comes with the engine loom.
As stated the best site is the Rx7club as its a regular event over there and might give you the best start in all the items you need. Personally if this was the route you are going down then get a doner car as then not only will you have everything you need but you can sell on all the bits you dont.
hi,im just seeing what my options are at the moment,i dont really want to sell the car as ive allredy spent out on suspension interior bits.
Im aiming to get it rebuilt in the winter sometime, either rebuild the na lump or do a transplant of some sorts.
I think idbe happy with anything from 250-300 to be honest, been in quite a few other cars such as 200sx\'s etc with about 250bhp and they seemed pretty rapid.
I think id like to go own the turbo route eventually but lke i say i love my car and id fell bad about selling it.
What would be a fair asking price for an 1988 egi with full stainless system,16 compomotive mo\'s,some bushes, body in fair condition and underside with some surface rust, full mot and tax.
Thanks for the advice guys.

Well for less hassle then go ballistic on getting the max out of a EGI lump, you would be surprised at what they will achieve but you might well spend just as much to get this .
yeah ive seen a few egi\'s ported and tuned too produce decent power outputs.Think ill try to get my hands on a t2 lump and associated parts towards the end of the year.
What should i be looking for in a t2 lump?millage compression etc?thanks:Tongue1
Adam
Think with any rotary lump its the history and proof of mileage or even rebuild. A decent TII lump is gonna start probably at £600 though and you may pay more if its been rebuilt. Even knackered ones go for £200 for spares.
if the reason you want an egi with a TII lump is becuase you\'ve bought bits for it. Why not take the bits off the egi, fit them to a TII and sell the egi. Personally I\'d only keep the egi if it had a mint shell. If not, whats the point? At the end of the day, the shell is the hardest bit to replace
made my mind up now!! gona go crazy on the egi and just have a street port maybee a half bridge done, can i have a bridge port done without modification to fueling ecu and injection? or am i limited to a street port on standard fueling etc??
It seemed abit silly spending 1500+ on a t2 conversion when i could pick a whole car up for that.
cheers.
Is that black TII still going on ebay? that had a rebuilt engine. As with any porting then to get the most out of it then you must spend money in upgrading the fuel/exhaust system. Dont forget you are porting it to extract more power and to get more power you need more fuel/air.
Think you need to do your sums as streetport/bridgeporting the lump and the rebuild is not going to be cheap and then you must change the header, exhaust, fuel pump,ECU etc etc to name just a few things if you dont want to see all that money blown away with a bit too much right foot. Its easy to do.
That TII coupe was only going for £1500 with a rebuilt engine and with a few other essentials thrown in. it would have made a very good base car or even just as it was.
Also I think it\'s worth a mention that porting gives a different kind of power. Whenyou port an egi you do away with all the aux valves (I think) and as a result your low end rev rev range loses a lot of torque. All good if it\'s a track beast but driving on the street won\'t be as fun. IMO the low end range is torqueless enough at standard. Also with a turbo you have more scope for upgrades, it\'s cheaper and it provides more torque. If you really want the most out of a ported egi lump then you\'ll be looking at making it rev higher too. Look at the thread by jm garage. Maybe ask them how much it is costing. I\'d love a porter egi, but tII\'s are just cheaper
Ive been on the phone to a few specialists and they have all come back with a rebuild cost of around 1500 and to port id be looking at another 300.
Im aware that porting does move the power band further up the rpm range but i like a car that i have to work to get results i want lol.
My end goal is to end up with a street/driftable car,and no i haven\'t watched to much initial d:Giggle lol i just love the idea of blasting through corners sideways ever since i had mt sierra RIP lol.
When the rebuild comes around ill improve other areas of the car such as fuel delivery etc and then in the future ill swap too a t2..just have to see where this takes me.cheers.

Awesome. Though its not the cheapest option, porting an egi great. Nice rotary NA power :D What kinda power you aiming for? If you strip the car down to under a ton then in theroy you should have an awesome drifter. Just look at the 160bhp AE86\'s.
what i can get i expect lol,na im aiming for about 180-200bhp:chat.I spent a weekend stripping out the rear of the car of all the sound deadening and stupid back seats and bodged some cobra buckets in.
Next step after the rebuild will be sorcing some sort of coilovers, lsd, sterring wheel, and then brakes, then off too santa pod dwyb!
Ah right, you going for a street port then?
What lsd you going for? Welded diff all the way!!! :D
sounds like more and more FC\'s are going to dwyb. We should try and get a lil mini dwyb 2ng gen meet on the go
yeah that or a 2way diff,id be up for a dwyb when ive got mine upto speed, your t2 your drift machine then?
personally don\'t see the point in 2ways as apparently they perform pretty much the same for grip and drift driving.
Haha not yet. Hopefully it will be. Should be well above the spec i\'ll need for a long time
yeah my goal so far is buckets, wheels 18\'s?,coilovers,bushes,steering wheel, decent pedals, exhaust, brakes and some sort of diff and maybee a kit once im good enough to stay away from the kitty litter lol.
what are welded diffs like to live with?? last think i want is it pushing me trough a corner into a hedge lol, also ive heard some people put bolts trhough the diff gears too also act as a back up for the welds??
TBH mate you need to get yourself drift works and do a search for welded diffs (in the drifting chat section).
Buckets...get one
wheels...go smaller as; smaller wheels handle better, rubber is cheaper, the break traction easier (i think) due to less rubber in contact with the ground. I\'d just buy a spare set of stock rims which are 15\'s or 16s. Then maybe another set of nice wheels for the front/shows.
Coilovers... i belive flikstrr may have a set of gp sports coilovers for sale, ask him on DW.
bushes...deffo. Also you\'ll need the DTSS eliminator bushes (they eliminate rear steer)
Steering wheel... As long as its fully round it should be awesome.
Diff... basically 2 ways lock pretty much all of the time, and they\'re pretty expensive. you can get your diff welded for about £50 and the main difference will be wheel hop when you\'re driving slow, like going out of junctions and so. As for going through a hedge, back in the day, alot of race cars used to run locked diffs so you should be fine. Tbh i had the same problem with diffs. My plan was got a 1.5 way as a spare if i ever want to take the car on track, and just put the welder in for drift use.
As the for welds, i dont know. Just whack a post up on drift works saying, i need my diff welded. Then hopefully an experienced diff welder will get in contact :D
oh Exhuast.....dunno what youve got atm. But the power is to be had with a decent header/mainfold and running a full through. You WILL need some sort of silencer. Full throughs on EGi\'s make the car sound like it eats babies.
As far as a kit goes....well thats personal preference. I do have an entire standard TII kit. which is a front bumper side skirts and rear bumper. Not sure if i want to sell it, but if you really want it i may consider.
now go skid :D
hahaha eating babies, yeah ive recently bought a full stainless cat back from jperformance-
-(they assured me that the system i had been sold would fit my egi as it was a t2 system, they said just use the catback part?? i double checked with them and they assured me it would fit...which it didn\'t....so i had to pay 100 of the queens finest nuggets to have the bloody thing modified as it was too short)...nice system though 3inches from the manifold through a mid can then onto a 4inch can.Stil makes my ears bleed so i put the silencer bung in as it was setting car allarms off lol.
The seats i got some off a guy at work, old cobra\'s that he had in his series landrover lol,got me some compomotives 16\'s for drift duty as they are only 7 wide then ill get some poncing about rims lol.
This rear stear bush? do i have them on my egi? ive heard they dont but im sure it will need to be changed either way..20 years old and all..

only if we could we have a super doopa drift team name lol:D
What fc\'s do u have??
has your system got rid of all the cats and the thermal reactor? I think there is a pre cat or something in the header, thus getting a new one is the way to go. You\'ll get more flameage with a new header too.
The EGi\'s deffo have the rear steer
sauce:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCLL54aB74U
Also if you put your car round a corner fast enough you can sometimes feel it.
lol how about FC:UK oh wait thats not ripping anything off what so ever.
i have an 88 egi and a 91 TII :D
yes we need a FC driftathon, get your cars sorted guys sometime this summer
well. I recon one of you should just buy jon smiths car and port it. If i could get a decent amount for my egi i\'d have it!
cool il orde some dtss cancelation bushes then, yeah im gona put the egi on a diet lol.
I think it has a rotechnics header on there so its got a free flowing exhaust now.
So what plans do you have for your t2??
i think the rotechniks header is similar to the RB one, so good stuff. I have a RB one on the egi, its awesome.
Oh god...well. Ive imported some coilovers, strut braces and an AVC-R. Need to pick those up then they shall be fitted, plus polybushed. Its gunna get stripped to hell, some new steering wheel, a bucket. Looking at a new exhaust, mine has two many silencers. Should have rear roof spoiler soon, and got a front lip to put on there. Oh the bonnet needs a home respray...its red, the cars white. Then it shall get some wheels with real offsets for pottering about on. Oh, and if the exhuast is any good, it\'ll need a ported waste gate. After that it needs some temp gauges, a boost gauge. Looking into removing the omp and running a pre mix but i havnt researched that enough. Basically just making it drift-able and safe for now.... I bloody hope its done by the summer! need to work out how im gunna get it places too, cant afford to insure the beast, and now one will let me insure it for the day.
if you can do a quick wiring guide for the avcr that would be handy as i kept the one from my s13 that i sold and have lost the wiring instuction
dont have it fitted yet mate. I\'ll need one too most likely , lol
