Title: speedo problem
Post by: jas_hall on April 29, 2009, 04:58:32 PM
hi all,
I was driving home today and noticed that the speedo needle has started behaving oddly. it suddenly jumped from 30 upto 40 then waved around 50 then fell to 30 and dropped as normal. I was driving at 30 in a speed camera zone and slowing down for some lights when this all happened. I continued my journey and kept a close watch on the speedo and saw it jump to 60 from 40 and back again whilst I maintained a steady speed!
does any one know what the problem could be?
cheers
jason

Hi all, just to add to my previous post.
My speedo now seems to showing 10-20mph more than I\'m actually driving. I\'m guessing this from driving in traffic in known speed check areas. (unless everybody around me was doing 40+ past a 30mph speed cam!)
Is it possible that the speedo has reverted to Kilometers?
if so, how do I remedy this?

cheers

jason

(ps I posted some concerns in the past about the takometer being in Kilometers, so this seems to be ongoing)

hmmm

based on a conversation I had with Jas at Super7 this morning, i\'m guessing you\'ve got a fleabay converter chip behind the clocks, and it\'s just blown...

The symptoms to describe above are the exact ones that Jas described to me when recommending me not to get one :2Rolleyes

agree with Danny.

Same happens on mine and I need to change it as i dont have a converter chip.

If you run an PFC it wont have a converter as the ecu converts automatically
