As above really what do you use your car for, daily use , track car, weekend car. Personally i use my car daily to and from work doing about 24 miles per day and it still cost load in fuel lol. I find the rx7 really easy and comfortable to drive everyday, the only thing that bothers me is the miles being put on it and the fact it could go pop, but as long as i keep the maintance up touch wood it will be ok.
Allso on another note what was the 3rd gen Rx7 designed for ? was built to be a daily car or as a track car or road going racing car. Just a few things that hace crossed my mind. Its must have been built as a car you can use everyday.
well yes it was designed as an every day sportscar.
If it was designed as weekend car like a TVR or Ferrari they would have released it with more power with more service intervals needed imo
What was the service intervals ? On my paperwork i got from the rebuild it says the oil has to be changed every 3000 miles and a full service every 5000
Seems about right, not much in a service in a rotary though, oil, filter and plugs.
Other items like fuel filter and brake pads, coolant like any other car on the road nothing special
Aren\'t TVRs weekend cars because they need to spend the week in the garage to fix what broke that weekend?

:rollinYour probaley right lol but i would love to have one. You can get a Tuscan for really good money now
I did look at a Tuscan, however the talk of engine probs on the forums got me down.
The last straw came when someone suggested replacing the TVR lump with something more reliable and a rotary was suggested! I couldnt see the point in changing the RX for one then.
Chris
I use mine as a daily driver all year round (although I tend to use the bike more in summer, I still use that all year too). Work commute is about thirty miles minimum round trip, so it makes it worthwhile getting her out the garage at least. Also pressed into service for going to the tip, DIY shop, collecting secondhand bits of other RX-7s from all over the country,in fact everything you\'d use....well, a car for really. After all.....it\'s a car!
we have both a tvr and the rx7 in our family. the tvr is a cerbera and the 3rd one my old man has had and the only he\'s had had trouble with .(blown engine)
the tvr gets used as a daily car and is driven all over the country on a regular basis. its a fantastic car and with the new engine has turned out to be very reliable (took a little while to get there). it can return around 30mpg on a long motorway journey and is quite refined i have to say. it\'s got uprated intrax suspension. i think it will be my next car when i decide to get rid of the rex.
as for the rx7, i use to use it as a daily drive. i use to do regular trips in it every 10days to belgium and back and basicly lived out of it, commuting with two holdalls in the back and my bike tucked in the back seats.i must of covered a good 30k in about 8-12 months. cost me a fortune in fuel but i\'ve had some of the best drives in it though. i think thats why i haven\'t been worried about spending the money on it, because i know that when its working properly, its a fantastic car and ill find it hard to beat.
from what ive learnt with the rx7 and the tvr, any car can be a good work horse, as long as you look after it. e.g. make sure its got plenty of oil, you warm it up/cool down properly, regular servicing etc...
i use mine as a daily driver & toy, do reading - newbury and back every day which is about 50 miles, not had any problems since my rebuild just keep up on all the maintenance and keep everything crossed!
early tuscans did suffer. the oil gally to the head was to small and it was causing the head to wear very quickly. Once sorted there shouldnt be a problem! Hopefully
mine is a weekend car as i have a company car otherwise i wouldnt have bought a rx7, i have to say i dont think i would want one as a daily drive would do my head in lol
Mine is mainly a weekend car but seeing as i work shifts that can be any day of the week. Would love to have it as my daily car but i think i\'d need to win the Euro lottery tomorrow noght to afford the fuel due to not being able to resist the temptation of putting my righht foot hard down all the time.
Do take it to shows and enjoy the odd bit of RWYB too :D
Adam
Mines a weekend car, driving it everyday has done my head in. The smell, the noise, the worrying about engine temps etc does your head in at 8am in morning traffic !!!
Have to put up with the bus during the week now which also is smelly, noisey and always hot.....aaarrgghhh I should drive :-)
Seriously though weekend car, the petrol costs would make me broke in everyday usage.
Weekend toy and hopefully a little track once its ready. There is no way im doing 90 miles a day in an RX7 lol.

Is that before or after you pull it out the tree cause there was a light sprinkling of water on the road? :D
garage trophy :(
Ring Toy and International Pocket Leech
I used mine for a daily drive, until we moved and I could walk to work.. Now i just take it out every now again well until its MOT ran out.. hopefully it will be back on the road for summer.. just gotta sort the emissions..
weekend toy.. does this thread apply to fc\'s?
like all toys.. u play with it.. break it.. take ages to fix it..
had my fc for about 14 mths now.. only really driven it for 4-5 months ish.. other times its either off the road or i been away lol
mine just usually sits on the drive looking pretty ;)
although did try and start it today and use it for work but it wouldnt start which is a bit annoying - as i used it over the last 3 weekends and its been fine
think the battery is on the way out :(
Seems like for most people its a second car then. Mine was a second car but now its my only car so i have to use for work. I only have to do 25 miles a day tho and its been rebuilt so hopefully it should be ok. Im going to change the oil at the weekend just to keep the maintance up.
Daily drive for me, has been for the last 3 1/2 yrs, love every minute of driving it, and mostly enjoy every moment of fixing it.
had mine for over 3 years and used as a weekend toy/ going to shows.... possibly future track monster?
Oh yeah also used as a regular piston beater :D
Track toy and sometimes a weekend toy. To harsh to drive it all the time with the set up and ride
Mine\'s pretty much a weekend car but it\'s my only car so sits on the road until I need it :) Luckily work is only a 30 minute walk and a 10 minute bus journey should it .... it down.
Had mine for almost 3 years, for the first 6 months or so it was my everyday car, but I realised it was leaving me far to poor to afford going out every weekend, so got myself a cheap run about.
So since then its been a summer/weekend/whenever its dry and im bored kinda car. Its difficult to walk out of the house and get in the run about though rather than the rex. Will-power is needed, especially when its dry lol.
Mine\'s a non-road legal race car, that I\'ve only ever driven on track. I\'ve probably only done about 400miles driving an Rx7, but they have been quite quick miles....
Mine was an daily driver till about six weeks ago. Its used as everything I need it to be used for. Unfortunately I now have a works van :(
Mine\'s pretty much a weekend car as well... Luckily my girlfriend and I work at the same place so we use her car for work - would be a bit crazy to drive in in separate cars everyday!!
Mine is my only car, but like a few people here, I walk to work so I don\'t need the car during the week. To be honest, the walk is only five minutes, and I think I\'d be doing more damage to the car driving such a short distance, than leaving it sat around doing nothing!

Yup, you most certainly would mate. Wise choice. :Thumbsup!
Stress releif....no not that kind
Always wanted an RX7, rare, pretty and unusual technology - why would you not want one?
Well the cost, naturally, but fortunately that\'s less of an issue since my wife gave in and said I could have a toy track and ring car - my commute would kill the car and my wallet if I had to use it as my daily driver, got a Cooper Diseasal for that and a Volvo Estate for the dogs and my wee one to get ferried about in...
So far we\'ve done one track day, got one a month between now and September when we\'re off to the \'Ring for some slip-slidey fun in the Autumn drizzel! Trying to get all my mods done myself ASAP so I can sort out teething troubles before the Nordschliefe sorts ME out!
FD daily driver car, back and forth to work. My wife pinched it today to go to work (120 mile round trip)
Dax rotary - seldom used weekend car
I have always wanted an FD I use it for a weekend toy, going to shows, meets and weekends away sometimes. Also nice to know that I am keeping a classic on the road as well.
quiet a few daily drivers as am I. 1996, have done about 1500 miles on side ported engine. so far so good. about a 20 min drive to and from work monday to friday. back up to london once a week takes between 1/1 1/2 hours. have to say i love driving it tho i swear i can sometimes see the fuel guage move lol. very few cars get as much attention, am constantly asked what is it. had visions of something going wrong constantly when i bought it, but nothing major (tho i\'ve put a rebuilt engine in it!!). a minor detail. fingers crossed all is well til i leave the country in september and she\'ll be up for sale before that, and hope my next car will bring as much pleasure.:driving
Weekend toy for me too, but as i fortunately only work three days a week then the other four are rotary playtime.
