I have an oil cooled T04r
The oil feed line/bracket restrictor pill is only 1.5mm wide (ie bloody tiny) Will this be ok for my to4r which is only oil cooled? and what is the correct size? im baffled.
I was under the impression that the turbo would need a much bigger oil feed hole?
many thanks
HKS turbos have a small feed, my T51R is the same.
Its fine thats how HKS have designed its Garrett turbos
Phew! i cant imagine this provides enough or much cooling or lube even at those high pressures. Thats one off the list anyways. I should have project thread up on here soon so you guys can see what ive done
You want to see how much oil goes through that turbo,or any turbo even with a resistor. I forgot to do up my oil feed and i lost 2 litres in about 10 seconds and that bore can only be about 4 0r 5mm. trouble is it went all over my engine bay, took an age to clean up. I have heard of restrictors even smaller than that. That oil leak was to a standard FC turbo by the way and when you look at the built in restrictor even that too is quite small in diameter. Its quite deceiving.
My restrictor is no joke 1.5 mm like as wide as this \'*\'4 or 5mm i could see being realistic but 1.5mm, is there any write up on pill size? i have checked. I just seems wierd as this is meant to lubricate and cool,
1.5mm is about right, the fd runs very high oil pressure, the pill would have been specified and fitted into the turbo from HKS.
Keep the restrictor as it is, or you will end up pushing oil past the turbo seals.
Cheers chris that makes sense
