Post by: SCOOMER on April 14, 2004, 02:28:20 PM
Over the last 3 weeks ive noticed when ive driven/cooled down/turned off engine, that the temp display on my apexi will rise to 110!! Also when im stuck in taffic it can rise upto 95. Ive cheaked coolent and its full and im not losing any. Am i being paranoid or is this not normal?

Cheers Scott.

Mine usually shows about 87deg while moving and up to 99deg when in traffic. The stock setting for the fans to cut in is 98deg i think. Check your thermostat, only a few £ and easy to replace for peace of mind sake at least.

Common one this:

All depends where your temp readings are being taken from.
I have a dual digital temp gauge, It never really shows anymore than 90°C and I can set my fans with it to come on whenever i want (normally set to about 84-85°C)
You will find that (as I have) when the car is switched off after a long run the latent heat builds up and moves from bottom to top of engine, my temps usually reach 115°C +
As soon as the car is restarted the temp soon drops because the coolant is gets pumped around again.
It has beeen doing this for a year (5000miles) and I \'ve never had any probs with coolant loss/overheating etc.
Andy (Still no more than 5psi boost) oh fiddlesticks
