Title: Lightened flywheel and porting advice needed please.
Post by: Cooch on April 23, 2009, 01:14:32 PM
Right brought an Engine from ebay a little while ago to rebuild and think it must be an auto as it has a rear counterweight (correct me if im wrong) so this means i can run a lightened flywheel. Correct? Also i know i cant got mad but how much can i fettle the ports on a standard ECU and twins? Can i just give them a slight polish i.e get rid of the casting marks or can i go a little further? Thanks in Advance.

I wouldn\'t touch the ports on a stock management system, you are asking for issues. You could replace the rear plate with a manual rear plate while the engine is apart.

yes you can add an ACT lightweight flywheel if you have the counterweight already

Timtook me out for a spirited drive (not that he knows how to drive any other way) in an heavily ported single turbo white rx7 on stock ecu. It went like absolute stink, must of done about 20+miles in it running 1bar boost.
Would necessarily say it\'s recommend but boy did we have fun.

We got back to his workshop. How we got back in one piece is beyond me.
I did eventually come to my senses and fit an apexi.
