You wouldnt need GT4202R turbo for that setup..

That is a huge turbo, and will need big injectors to make full power..
And some huge porting work.

well the porting i cant change but injector setup is easliy changed like 1640 secondaries with a supra fuel pump and fpr, im lookin for 550 at flywheel or there abouts

Im going to run that turbo, with the same exhaust housing 1.05.

And I have a PP engine and 6 1680cc injectors...:yes

So if I where u I would run some thing like the Garrett T04Z.

Senb Jan Tore a message, he who are building the 4 rotor.
He used that turbo on his car last year running Time attack here in Norway.

gt35r would be good to..

The hks t51r would be to big again, that is more like the GT42 turbo only more expensive..
I dont know anything about the apexi turbos.

Do u have any in UK that can rebuild the hks or apexi turbos?
We don`t here in Norway, so it`s very expensive to get the rebuildt.

Garrett T60-1 (aka T04S) rated good for upto 500-550hp fly... good spool up and excellent mid to top end power, ideal for track use..... I\'m selling the complete kit here http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56543 :wiggle

Setup was mild streetport, 550cc primaries, 1600cc secondaries, aeromotive fpr... mapped by Jaydee who can vouch for how good the car moves :D

Been in a similar boat myself buddy. I managed to bring my selections down to a T04z and GT35r. In an ideal world a GT35r would have been my choice but managed to find a good secondhand T04z for sensible money so couldnt say no.

T04z is also roller bearing and water cooled which im not sure the T04s is, so spool up should be quicker on the Z.

I run GT42r on mine. But mine is a totally different set up to what your looking at.

I run half bridge, 4 x 1000cc injectors, 044 external pump and RE uim.

Dont even bother with a GT42 unless you have half or full bridge. I get boost from 4k and full boost by 5.5k ish as i run a 1.28 rear housing so its the big one. If you want to go for a GT42 then get a 1.01 rear housing as this will reduce lag but then your egt\'s will go up and up. Saying that im only running 1.2 bar. The GT42 is worth it when your running 1.6 bar plus really to get the most out of it. Darren at Whifbitx was using GT42 on his but 2 bar of boost and it used to fly once in full boost and that was with a 1.01 rear housing

Why the big exhaust housing?
Have u ever messured the back pressure?

That will be changed shortly to a 1.01 ( they only had 1.28 in stock ) plus a nice little shot nos is going in soon.

Lag? What lag lol

I wont belive u have lag with a 1.28 housing.. :p

But u should messure the back pressure when u change the housing..:yes
If u run 1.2bar pressure, than back pressure shold also be around 1.2bar..

If it is, then u have the right housing..:Thumbsup!

just a weird turbo, you really need to be in mid rev range for it to be in boost, but when it hits full boost there aint a lot that will beat you, but the problem is catch up as the smaller turbo cars can get away quicker as they are hitting full boost a lot sooner than I am

That is because of your big exhaust housing..

U will need much more exhaust to spool up the turbine..
If u get a smaller housing it will spool up much faster, because the exhaust will runn the turbine and not just pass it..:Thumbs-up

I read a post on rx7club forum, that you should tune the car on egt when not on boost..
Then u get more torqu..:yes

In my opinion if you are looking at 550 fwhp you going to need something big and porting beyond a street port, so guess you are really limiting you options with that expectation.

It really comes down to how you want the car to drive. Do you want it making huge power but only boosting from high up the rev range, good for drag strips or something that boosts from low down thats very driveable  but still makes good figures and also how much boost you are prepared to run, as im sure you know, many tuners dont like going over a bar without water injection etc

Have a read of the dyno chart and see what people have achieved on what ports compared to what turbos. But in all honesty i think it comes down to what you want from the car in terms of driving experience and performance.

I have just gone from a T78 as really didnt really want something only making full boost after 4k, admittedly they are an older turbo and hopefully with the T04z being roller bearing but still a good size should see similar hp figures but boosting earlier.

well im definetly going to use water injection as was lookin to go 1.2bar. ya the to4z sounds good, im lookin for that good balance for track, not too pushed about drag racing. think im going to go for a to4z or similar. if after a couple years i need a rebuild then maybe bigger ports

go for GT4094 or similar, my opinion a better turbo and a lot cheaper. There are a few of the boys on here using that and they get full boost under 4k and get no real lag.

If you get a HKS one your only paying for the name

If you want the best of both worlds i would get a MP T64...1.00 A/R split rear housing..GTQ Turbine Wheel....ported front compressor housing...trust me you cant go wrong!!!!

I supplied one to someone on FDUK...and on here......he gets 479BHP at a bar and full boost by 4200......if thats too late for ya i can supply it with a P trim rear wheel which will spool quicker but make about 30-40 hp less.

LOL....you can pay more if you want!!!!!.....i just do good pricing thats all!

These are quality turbos....and can be rebuilt using garrett parts.....(i need to confirm but i think they use garrett centre cartridges..)  Built under ISO 9000 guidelines in brazil.

Its a large frame turbo that is actually designed for 1.5 bar and higher......I have supplied a few to guys on here...and they have them over 1 bar and have had no problems whatsoever....i used to run mine at 1.4 bar

These turbos are very popular with the Mustang and Supra guys.:mmmm

Id say you\'d make your target power easier with this tub but you must have some porting done regardless.

the porting is as important as the turbo for 550 at the wheels.

but the 1.10 and the 1.15 would get you there but the porting would be as important a factor as the tub hotside size.

Im no expert tho Col. Plenty of reading to be done

Colin if you looking for 550 flywheel a 1.00 on a T04z wont get you there even on a streetport.
You need the 1.15 AR, I should know I had a T04Z and a streetport I attained 550 fly at just over 1.3-1.4 BAR .
I know someone who had the 1.00 AR T04Z and he was forced to change to a 1.15 as it was restricting his power at low boost
