Hi,
1/.
just wondering what it would take to drop a turbo lump and box into my egi??
Im guessing loom, ecu, box, diff and subframe?? Is there anything else im missing??
Also what brakes should my egi come with?? just ive got four pots on mine?? this as standard or is it something a previous owner has added?? Cheers
Brett is the one to tell you about brakes on the EGI - I seem to remember that the UK ones did get 4 pot\'s up front - so that\'s the same as TII.
Regarding the engine swap - gearbox / Diff / ECU / Loom / Engine and ancillaries about covers it. I think the subframes will be the same.
Exhaust will need doing if you\'ve still got the stock one on the EGI - it\'ll be too restrictive for the Turbo.
Forgot to add - if you\'re going with stock intercooler - then you\'ll need the bonnet with air scoop, otherwise fit a front mount.
I\'d also suggest wider wheels if you don\'t already have some, the turbo two is a whole new breed of animal :D
To be honest selling up and buying a t2 would sound allot easier but ive allready started spending on bushes suspension and other stuff so it would be nice to just keep the shell and drop a t2 into it,what sort of money would i be looking at for a rebuilt t2 engine
roughly???
depends on the rebuild, who buy, how far the car has covered. I picked up my TII for 1k with a rebuild engine (new rotor housings) that had done 20k, chassis was 90. Think if your lucky you could get a decent 1 for £500ish, havnt seen many about though
In terms of brakes etc - the EGi is pretty much the same as the TII - only difference being the ABS ont he TII\'s.
The suspension is stiffer on the TII.
You will basically need all of the running gear from a TII... (Fuel pump, ingnition system, diff, box, etc etc)
Have you considered buying a supercharger? Theres a few places out there selling kits... (Jackson racing being one IIRC) ...would probably be a first in the UK as well ;)

ABS was an optional extra, I have it, Prof doesn\'t, the difference being is that Prof can still get to his plugs lol I can\'t :rollin
Cabriolets were differently specced to the coupe ;)
