Title: Best rebuild for the price?
Post by: Oliv on April 18, 2009, 01:23:09 PM
Hi guys,

Rebuild time is coming up due to water seal failure.
I guess this has been discussed many times here but I\'m lazy

So if you have time just drop your thoughts here of where you\'d go or you went for your rebuild and why.

Cheers!

I\'ve two different engines built by Steve Rivett down in Banstead !
He does a really good job and quick turn over time. All his porting is done using pineapple racing templates and he is very well priced. He also does all modding such a non sequential conversion and inter cooler install. PM me for his details

I would recomend JM garage for rebuilds :) he is honest about what needs doing and doesn\'t cut corners so that the engine he builds is the best it can be :)

Not sure how transport to Portsmouth would be for you but I would strongly recommend Re-Worx in Portsmouth they re-built my engine some time ago, set it up on the rolling road once run in and it runs like a dream.
I went down to their premises and watched the engine being taken apart and Chris didn\'t mind being asked dumb questions, from what I have since learned about the cost of re-builds it was not expensive.

I\'d be speaking to Era De Clerk at Oldone/AKA the Rotorshed - top bloke and very knowledgeable. The quality of his work is second to none :) I trusted him to do my porting, and I\'m a very sceptical person :D He more than rewarded my trust!

Also saw some of the engines he was working on, and I\'ve seen several of his ones that have been running very well for extended periods of time. Big thumbs up :)

its obviously down to personal preference but I wouldnt use anyone but Dragon, always give top advise and there results on track ,drag and drift speak volumes for the knowledge and standard of the work.

Well i\'m new to Rotarys and have spoke to a few tuners this month and they all seem very evenly priced and very helpfull . This is most welcome and a shock as i\'m used to Ford tuners with bad manners , Yachts and drug habbits too support !!!!! lol .
A decent street ported turbo engine is about £2000-£2500 depending on weither the doner engines housings etc etc are any good or not . They all charge about the same for porting and for parts so just go by who\'s the nearset to a cafe !!! :chat
It would be handy to have a tuners list on here so us newbies know who\'s who . Also a list of who the pro-tuners with workshop units , dynos etc are and who the home tuners are . For example i didn\'t know there was a bloke in Banstead doing them and i only live 5 minutes from there . :o

If its just waterseal failure, Prof rebuilt his engine that had water seal failure, cost him about £600 in total with all seals and upgrades :)

Not heard him mentioned yet, but Pip @ WGT knows his stuff. He is, according to some, a bit pricey but he really knows his stuff. Had my rebuild comp tested recently after ~26k miles and was still showing 8\'s all round.

And, whenever i\'ve got silly questions / requests he\'s always happy to help. (not saying others aren\'t but just my experiences with Pip & Dave)
