Title: rebuild and refreshing my fd3

after owning it for 4 months the engine has failed so im removing it at the moment for a rebuild,also going to respray the car properly as its been badly done by the last owner.

shame about the engine but at least you will know its good when back together.

what was the history of the engine when you bought it??

dont think i remember seeing it for sale.

dont think i remember seeing it for sale.

There was no history of a rebuild when i got ! he let me have it for the day so i could compression and seal test,compresions were 6 bar with even jumps so i knew this day was coming up,i didnt pay much for it and it had a pretty gd spec apart the fuel system and manegment . i planned to use it all summer and rebuild through the winter but i think my man foot might have brought it forward :D.

The car has done a 12.7 at 122 the spec it is at 1.2bar i think a panspeed ecu

it used to be dragons old drag car ! i dont supose you know the injector size do you ? ive split the block today but cant tell if theres porting or not :3Confused is there anywhere i can get the measurement for them ?

i think it has 4x850 are the intake ports smooth? or you can post a pic

the housings are fooked ! i havent checked the plates yet i cant remember the tolerance between straight edge and face ?? also the oil pump side cover has alot of crazing on the inside,is this normaly ok ?

thanks for help dude :cheers.god only knows how its lasted so long on stock injectors :eek:,i dont know when it was built but the a/f ratio must have been massively lean under hard driving.

it has had a wideband on it when running 1.2 it was safe it must have a adj fuel reg and some high fuel pressure

its has a sard fuel pressure reg ! i havent looked at the pump but yet but i will fish for it tomorow !

i love the handling at the moment but i will be putting coilovers bk on and the power was just savage ! i used to have skylines but there like barges compared to the rx7

yes the handling is very good once you have confidence in the cars the to4s is a nice road turbo get the engine ported, ecu etc and it will be alot better

That\'s the route I\'m taking ! Rxmotors are supplying the housings and rotars and I\'m sending the plates off for street port !600 for bits and 300 for port work :mmmm

Well peeps im mashing through the crap jobs and hoping to do some fun stuff soon ! Its nearly ready to paint under the bonnet which im doing at the weekend, i will photograph the mixing steps of 2pk paint to anybody whos intrested :Yawn . ive dusted the subframe and painted the lower chassis and a small amount of the tunnel with a hand can and clear coat,reasons the subframes bk in is so i can paint it half in the garage to save on masking times .

yeah i had to send the petrol flap to tcp to be matched ! i dont know if it was a mazda colour on the car and i have a paint code for a red lol ! im toying with the idea of a diffrent colour because im painting the whole car but not sure i do like the white !what do you think ?

ahh the shineauto car....
yeah id go with that. there arnt many people with the grey rx7\'s. it looks a bit different.do like the grey......im just trying to find the paint code for you.....
mine is now audi mugello blue.....

yeah, eventually when i get mine back it will look like that. just need the front lip and lights. cant justify spending more money on something i dont have/havent had for a year haha!
that grey is sweet though....
you got any other plans for it? looks like you\'ve got the engine sorted...

loads of plans gyles but havent got the budget to suit lol ,im getting married this year so money is abit scarce ! no im doing it slowly and still toying with the engine idea,when you add the cost of bits its not far off a decent built engine,so still not sure but rxmotors are very helpfull !

i know what you mean with budgets. mine started off very small but just ended up escalating as i just kept thinking, well if i get it done now then i wont need to later.....

my car is up at wgt at the moment getting mapped. looking forward to getting it back.

weeeeellllll ive decided to stick with crystal white,i do like the titanium paint but the white is here to stay :Thumbsup! well i would had the top coat on but the winds been strong down here so ive been kitesurfing :yes but il have it done tomorow if theres no wind

it did have but there pikey spec ! But I\'m looking for front wings and i\'ll probably stretch them a bit or maybe some feed ones :yes

Not much hapenned over the last week,ive had some sort of man/swine flu ha ha but i have sourced a engine for it from japland ! hopefully it should give me a good base for a rebuild because most of my bits from the engine are fooooooked !

its had an exhaust port only karl it came from show car that was stuffed up the rear just 900 km after a rebuild.im not going to port the inlets for now,im in the process of bolting on the turbo and sorting the wiring and vacums

I managed to remove my finger from my ar$$ and swung the engine back into place whilst bathing in gear oil :Thumbs-up .i havent got new injectors or e.c.u yet due to lack of funds but it will give me time to finish the bodywork but i want to run the engine before i take the uim off again

ive run the engine up and all is good,it suprising how smooth it runs compared to my old unit !

only just noticed this thread.:god:god...seeing Andrew\'s old car brings back memories:( all in a good way.

Slingo brought this out this week, and my god he has done an A1 Job, to top it off it sounds f***ing awesome!

Dude I would love to do a swap for part of the next evening were out, when its all done if your up for that, fingers crossed mine gets back from the Nurburgring in one piece ha ha

I\'m driving my rx7 now and have been to a local event on thorny island this weekend ,i didnt compete as im still running the engine in 0.5 bar and half throttle :Laugh
