Title: Newbie RX8 owner
Post by: Gavin_RX8 on April 09, 2009, 02:49:50 PM
Hi, Had my RX about 6 months and so far i love it....Actually joined up on here a while ago but didn\'t really get involved much so thought i would say hello properly.
This is my first rotary motor but have wanted either a 7 or 8 since a relative of mine imported an RX7 from japan about 10 years ago. I\'m well into modified cars and i\'m sure this won\'t be standard for long, but i beleive in not trying to fix what ain\'t broken so any mods should be tasteful or purposeful.
Anyways, this is mine, not mint by a long chalk but comes up nice with the autoglym on it and is by far the best looking motoer round my way so i\'m well chuffed with it so far.
Any constructive comments welcome by the way.

Welcome to MRC Gavin! :wave

Nice car and fab photos - love the first one.

A front spolier really adds to the look of an 8 IMHO.

Thanks for the welcome! I love the 1st photo too, its actualy taken in a tunnel in the middle of nowhere going through a peak district hill at about 2am lol. I belong to a local car club and that pic was taken by one of its resident amatuer photographers.
I am looking at front spoilers, want something subtle and different, also looking at ways of uncovering the nice shaped intake hidden by the number plate.

There are lots of ways including removing it all together! I drove around for about six months with no front plate and had no problems - I only put it back on for the MOT.

Don\'t know what the police are like round your way, but if i did that they would jump on me straight away lol, can\'t get away with anything like that. Our county was the first to give police powers to take boy racers cars off them and crush them if they cause a nuisance. They do look so much better tho...

There\'s a few other options. I think the one I like best is a stick on over where the front badge is. Like Tony\'s below - looks really nice.

Ahhh, we have now after a pedestrian had a proper go at Lisa about the fact that she was driving an illegal car, however it is only a little one that fits where you "V" is.

(not on my home computer to get a picture)

Never! Mind you Lisa was obviously going way too slow if she was talking to pedestrians. She should have told them she had a reg plate when she left home but it must have fallen off when she hit the last pedestrian! :rollin

:wiggle Hi and welcome to the great ownership of an 8.
Here\'s a couple of pics of mine with it\'s lowered front plates the first pic is a 3/4 size plate which the police pulled me over for and made me change so it got changed for a full size plate see second pic. I now has an aftermarket front nose on see third pic, although I\'m toying with mounting the plate direct to the grill or re-lowering.

Think i\'m swaying more towards lowering to the position just in front of the Rotary V in the splitter to be honest, unless i go mad with the jap street racer look in which case it would look good with a stick on. Like the gun metal grey wheels by the way, lookng at doing something with mine but not sure what colour to go for yet, possibly gloss black.

Here you go, I did mine this way so the shape of the car wasn\'t altered at the front,

Just a few updated pics from today, weather was nice so gave it a quick wash, also removed the badges and cleaned the crap off. Not sure what colour to paint them yet, maybe gloss black.
