Got a nightmare with a 92 FD3s.
Story goes like this.
When driving it would pull well till 5000RPM. The car would make a horrible droaning noise then die off.
I tried turning the boost down to .6 bar incase it was a overboost problem but it done it again.
After checking a few things i took it back out. Felt OK at first. My mate comes up my ass in his ZX6R so we decided to have a little blast down tthe strait...... OK 1rst, 2nd 3rd then Bam the same fault only this time i lost all power. Cralled back to the garage to find no compression on one side. DoH!!!!
1 new engine later (2nd hand 97, 25k) i take it back out. The original fault is still there. Cutting off at 5000rpm in the second turbo.
Any pointers? Turbo? Actuator?

How\'s it going. Could be a number of things so hard to diagnose remotely, but if the air filters are block you get the exact same thing. You nee to take them off to check because outside may look ok but may be caked and is not allowing it to breath at all.
However saying that sounds like fuel cut. Put a proper cat on the car instead of that Jap decoy cat and take it out and see again.
Fuel cut is harder to get in 1st & 2nd but in 3rd gear is where it tends to manifest.
