Title: Moving Cruise controls?
Post by: Grizzly on April 07, 2009, 04:16:28 PM
I have been thinking of changing the big daft standard (uk) steering wheel for a smaller Aftermarket one, Problem is the Cruise controls are on the wheel and i don\'t really want to loose them?

Has anyone moved them or fitted after market switches? Its one of those things, i would like to change the wheel but the cruise saves me a fortune in fuel going up and down the motorway??

I have been doing some searching but i\'ve not come up with anything yet? Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers
Chris

I did this chris. It\'s very easy. Basically there is a small white plug & socket under the steering column with 2 or 3 wires in it. You cut the 2 wires needed for the cc and simply extend them to wherever you mount the switch. I mounted mine by the handbrake.

Here\'s a guide i put together some time ago. If you need more pics, give us a shout

Robbie, link looks like it\'s got some great info, but it seems all the photobucket links are broken =(

Most of the pics were of the same ones i reposted. Basically if you want to move your steering wheel switches, there are only 2 wires coming out the steering wheel switch. There is an electrical connector near the ignition lock. You need to cut these 2 wires at the connector and extend them to the new location where you decide to mount the switch. It\'s really simple if you actually take a look under there:Thumbsup!

I\'m not sure about you right hookers. I do know that all US Touring/PEP models came with cruise control, leather seats, and a sunroof. These three things make me happy :)
