Title: Buying Guide/Model Guide?
Post by: A11YKF on April 06, 2009, 09:36:18 PM
Hope your all doing well I had been on this forum briefly soemtime back when I had fancied buying a Rex but circumstances changed back then so it never happened. The time has possibly come for me to do it now though so I wondered if anyone had a link to a buying guide and a model guide in particular wondered what models had what interiors as Ive seen them with what I thought was carbon fibre buckets as standard is that right?
I\'m also still not sure as to how I want to purchase it either try an have it imported myself an possibly get a later one for a good price or buy one over here that has had a recent rebuild an is reciepted then be safe in the knowledge that all should be working fine for a good while.

Cheers for any help in advance.

Ally

Im not an expert on these things but i think with the weak pound it makes it a lot more expensive to import. They have to be 10 years old to register on the road so if you wanted newer than that you would need to buy one thats already registered.
It would depend on how much you have to spend and what sort of driving your going to do as to what model you would buy as no point in modifying a Spirit R if you know what i mean.
Give us a bit more info.

You could be right about the the strength of the money I thought maybe because of that there maybe wouldn\'t be as many people bidding in the auctions an that would make it a good time to buy or am I being stupid there an not thinking it through?
I\'m not entirely sure as to which model to go for to be honest that was why I wondered was there a guide as to what had what on it I take it that the spirit R is the one with the carbon seats?
I was really just hoping to get something reliable and in good condition I kind of thought about 99 onwards would maybe be the best bet i think they look better with the facelift I could be wrong as I\'m sure there will be some very good older ones out there
Can you not get it sva\'d if its under 10years old?
Driving wise it\'s for the road not the track a reliable 300-350 bhp would good enough for me so nothing to modded and extreme just enough to teach a lesson to people when it needs to be done.
Just any sort of help that some of you more experienced owners may have on here would be of help to a future purchase.

They get exported to Aus and USA etc, so recon folk will still be bidding on them.
In Japan they haven\'t went up in price its just our money has halved in value.
The carbon seats are not real carbon and i dont think they are all that desirabe,
unless you own them lol.
There are leather seats which are nice but a bit hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
There are a lot of nice after market seats.
Its a buyers market especialy if you are willing to go down south.
You can buy one with a rebuild(make sure there is paper work and warranty transferable) or without but make sure you get it about 3 grand cheaper.

Yeah I know what you mean on the money side now I think I was wrong on the seats front too as far as I saw now they are kevlar not carbon and it\'s the RZ\'s that had them is that correct? I was only really asking as I have seen 2 cars with them fitted and wondered if they were particularly rare models I\'m not really a seat pervert can anyone shed any light on model differences then between the Typr r, RS an RZ?
