Title: Garrett GT4082 experience?
Post by: isijappanisi on April 06, 2009, 06:11:17 PM
Hi,

have any of you guys had your cars dynoed with a Garrett GT4082?
Just wondering how much power this will be good for on a halfbridged 13B.

Thanks

Id say its too small for a half bridge!!

Im running one on a medium street port.....

I still hit full boost by 3.5k....

as above i think a half bridge will swallow it up. T88, T51r or bigger will be better suited.

On street port expext anthing between 400 and 480 bhp depending on mods and boost level

Thanks for the replies,
I was worried it woudn\'t be any good.

But that just gives me the excuse I needed to go BIGGER! :D

Thanks

Rotaries like bigger turbos, apparently the stock FC turbo (which has a tiny compressor) still has a hot side AR of almost 1 lol :)

Even if you went for the 4088 its still a little small for bridge port. Would run lovely and nice big street port.

will that be the same type T4 flange as the garrett turbo got?
I\'ve been looking at a GT4202, will have to decide which one to go for, the GT4202 is a bit cheaper.. ;) and brand new.

on a half bridge ideally you want a T88 GK, T51r, or GT4202 or bigger.

I run a GT4202 on a half bridge and even that isnt enough lol

Ed\'s GK will be perfect as it spool like nothing else

I have a GT4082 yes, and yes it\'s for sale.
It\'s been used half a summer, and on very low boost as the engine wasn\'t mapped yet.

What kind of power are we talking about with a T88 GK on a halfbridge engine? With supporting mods.

And how is your GT4202? Is it as laggy as people say it is? My car will be setup for track use, but must be usable on the street as well.. :D

i get boost at 3k and full boost by 4800, but have full boost and power all the way up to 9k. Once it hits bloody hell its a kick and a half and will give you a big smile.

Cant be bad as Darren used the same turbo and set up as me on his Pro Time Attack car

Just need to keep it in boost. Easy just drive at higher revs

GK best bet will be speaking to Ed or JayDee but 500 easy and it does spool very quickly

Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it! :Thumbsup! It\'s always a struggle when ordering turbo, to know which one will do and not.

You\'ve got a standard GT4202, and not the R bb version?
Maybe you could tell me what hotside AR you run as well? :)

Thanks again!!

No im running 4202r so its roller bearing, without it you will be waiting all day for positive boost lol

Running 1.28 rear housing but changing that to a 1.14

Comp a/r is 0.6
TW Trim is 0.84
CW trim is 53
