Title: Hey people. my new FD3s :D
Post by: nuki on April 06, 2009, 01:51:41 PM
Good afternoon! I just thought i would introduce myself! :D
I have dibbled slightly into the rotary forums but never introduced myself so here goes.
My name is Aaron and I am 20 years old.

I live in West-Yorkshire near Huddersfield

I am totally new to the rotary scene but damn im having fun ha.
Within this time I have purchased and had installed
Aluminium 52mm radiator, Air-con radiator removed, AST elimination, gearbox, diff oil, and regularly change the oil and filter every month. Also just purchased an exedy clutch which is required to be fitted shortly. Also had the front bumper rebuilt I can see upgrades and part buying getting addictive: D
I bought her without much history of the engine or anything really, so hopefully somebody will know something and shed some light about the history of her, the engine bay looks well with 2 HKS filters, Blitz dump Valve, Painted Plenum and shiny intercooler piping.
She was imported in 2006.
She runs really well and really stands out on the roads. I have BIG plans for her as i love the rotary engine and soon to look towards big power.
Any help on the history of this car would be fantastic as I know somebody on this forum has her before me
Thanks for reading.

Remember seeing this car at a few show a few years back. Nice clean car you\'ve got with lots done to it. Lucky having one at 20 too!
I know you should change the oil regulary on these things, but once a month. Bit to much me thinks... unless your doing 3000 miles a month otherwise well done and ohmy god i dont wanna see you fuel bill :p

welcome.

the first thing i would be doing is removing that number plate and getting a sticky one on the bumper for air flow to the rad and most importantly, the interwarmer.

got any engine bay or interior pics??

£2020 with £850 excess with my mum and my grandma as named drivers with me been the policy holder with 0 claims. but that was had to be paid up front. if i was to pay monthly it would be £4000 in total but its worth it i just need to get thru this year as next year is about £1300 on the re-quote.
Title: Hey people. my new FD3s :D

Jesus farkin Christ! For a second, it looked like you\'d put "£4000 if I was to pay monthly" then !

All I can say to those sorta numbers is you\'ve got my admiration for your dedication to running a Rex, that\'s a hell of a lot of money to pay

Love motor mate and deffo and eyecatcher although probably not to everyone\'s taste\'s but as long as you like it.

You need to cover/block that hole on the top of your intercooler ducting as its just sucking in hot engine bay temps instead of from the front bumper.

2-4k insurance WoW!!!!!
I remember ( a lot of years ago now) i was living in dublin and as insurance prices were crazy over there, a good friend of mine was paying 9k fully comp on a golf gti and he was 23 at the time. I was 21 and had my civic vti covered on a european greencard for £600.

It seems like insurance for the younger driver\'s is going crazy,

Like the guys said above, keep it on the tarmac mate.

Nice car buddy, bit too out there for me but a stunning macine never the less.

As Neil said you\'ll need to block off the gap in the plastic infront of the I/C and the gap on the other side (circular one with foam inside), this will force the air flowing into the front bumper through the ic and will help lower temps considerably.

Also I\'d suggest, if you haven\'t done it already, to do an advanced drivers course bud, will help you with confidence in the wet and you\'ll get more out of the car, plus you\'ll find you usually get better mpg as your driving improves. and you never know but the insurance companies may give you a better price.

lol im no stranger to drifting full round abouts in deserted locations.. i prefer wet roads than dry roads... and the IAM license makes no difference because the time and cost it takes to do that will make up on the insurance anyway by the time its completed... ive had an upbringing of powerfull cars just not rear wheel drive but thats easy to pick up quick you just gota be 1 step ahead because it can have you when its dry aswell thats why i prefer wet road because you expect it more. but ye i totally understand where your coming from but because im 20 dosent mean i cant drive ;) hehehe

i was 19 when i got mine and everyone probably thought i would crash it and that i was crazy but 2 1/2 years, many trackdays and drift days later its better than ever although it does about 500miles a year now!

i used to know the old owner too Dking or Kev, looked a bit different when he sold it but glad it improved and not ruined! :yes

Yes there’s been quite a bit to do in the 4 month I have owned her... The clocks didnt light up or change color.. The suspension on the front was too low for the 19" wheels, The radio used to keep shorting out blowing fuses.. so ive had all that out and rewired so everything works that is suppost to.. im just trying to get all the cosmetics and the reliability issues over with which I have almost conquered then look into investing in upgrades which im alomost sure Steve from hayward can help me out with ;) I have read back on the Threads that D-KING had wrote and he confirms he had a receipt which states a full engine rebuild 4 month from r-magic before it was imported which I have worked out will be 3 years ago in July so im quite happy about that. :D:D i jsut hope its been highly maintained within that time.

I\'m not a fan of loads of stickers and huge wings, but i gotta say that looks awesome. Fair play to you at your age driving that around.Even though it looks nice, i would be too embarrassed to be seen driving it because of all the looks and stares. I bet there are a lot of 20 year old\'s extremely jealous of you for having that.

Im 20 and been driving mine since i was 18, mine first cost me £2500 for the first year, and renewal was £1700, thankfully though as soon as i hit 21, (july this year) it drobs massively.

It will still be allot at around £1000 for the year but tbh thats quite good considering. MY friend pays £3600 for his Saxo vtr. lol
