OK so i\'d just like some reassurance in what is actually wrong with the clutch....bar the obvious.
ok friction plate

So im guessing this is going to need to be replaced. Though is there anyway way these can be reconditioned? Just looks like it needs a new friction surface as the rest of it is fine. Or is that a stupid idea? Also apparently the clutch only has about 40k on this, surely that cant be right (speedo isn\'t currently working so the car could have more miles than i know of). Also for the parts that are still intact, they are on their way out.
cover plate:

This looks fine to me, could do with a bit of a clean up. Also the clips between the forks, is it missing any? I am not sure how many there are suposed to be but they are not between every fork.
Clutch release bearing:

Its a bit covered in clutch in that pic, ive cleaned it up though and its seems fine. No real slop under any load. An d at £50 a pop im not too keen on replacing it, unless someone can tell me otherwise?
Flywheel pilotbearing etc:

only pic i could really get. Am i right in thinking the pilot bearing is behind the flywheel? Is there anyway of checking it without taking the fly wheel off? That bolt does not look like a good time TBH. Also is there anything dodgy looking about the flywheel? Looks fine to me but i don\'t know what im looking for!

Just wanna check that this is all good. anything wrong?
Ok thanks for looking people. Any info would be a great help as at the moment i can\'t understand why just the friction plate would cause the problems it did. (not going into gear with the engine running)
thaaaaanks :D
personaly I would just get a Clutch kit as your clutch plate is obviously fooked, the thrust bairing shouldnt come apart in my view so this needs replacing & the pressure plate is scored to hell and back!! the pilot bairing is in the centre of the flywheel nut, if you look in to the middle you will see it.
But personaly I would change:
Friction plate
Thrust bairing
Pressure plate
The pilet bairing is normaly fine!
here you go matey.... this might help you out ;)

oh, did i leave some of the thrust bearing in the gearbox? oops...
err, think the cover plate looks worse than it is, that camera has some annoying auto flash. Do you think all of these would have cause the car to not even go into gear? Even though its all worn out to death, i can\'t see how it would stop me putting it into gear?
Thanks for the advice anyway, and the speed!!!
yep it sertainly would stop the selection of a gear!!!
I would just opt for a clutch kit matey, that\'s what I did & I got every part you need to change!! best to do it once now rather than have to pull it apart again in a couple of months!!
Take a look at my clutch thread as I did a total step by step guide with pics on how to change everything ;)
The long and short of it is.... skimp on it now & it will bite you in the arse later!!
Jono
awesome, you\'re an absolute life saver, cheers :D
As per what Jono said - I would also use some brake cleaner spray on that flywheel - and then take another look - as it looks like it\'s stained - friction surface should be clean like a brake disc. May need the surface doing. That nut is 54mm - and you\'ll need a 6 sided socket and Big FO bar to get that off - chances are the flywheel will be ok - just replace the clutch cover, disc and release bearing.
wahey, thanks for more reassurance prof, i\'ll get on it. Just need to chose a decent clutch kit now!

if your runing around the 300wbhp mark you will get away with a stock clutch or the basic exedy setup, but if your going more than that, you will need to start looking for something with a little more bite!
Jono
wow thats one fooked clutch, told ya.
As everyone says just buy a whole new clutch kit, you may have got away from not damaging your flywheel, as Prof says give the flywheel a good clean with a brake cleaner
I\'d go for an uprated part if I were you - a modded TII will eat a stock clutch in no time at all...
Even mildly modded I ate stock clutches very quickly - Go with an Upgraded Exedy Organic if you don\'t want to spend megabucks - it\'s a good strong clutch - about 40% more clamping force and feels almost stock. It will take a lot of punishment.
That clutch you had in there looks like a centreforce one - going by the weights
LOL - that looks well and truely shot at !! blimey :D :D
im sure i have some spare clutch parts in the garage depending on what you decide to do
well the car is being drifted so i think an uprated one is on the cards. Though i looked on MRP and there seems to be a massive price difference between uprated and stockish clutch. i\'ll have a look for the organic one when i have some time. Got the egi to fix too...blimey!
thanks for the comments to guys :D
I have got a 6 puck ACT clutch as I know as its running above stock power levels its going to keep eating clutches lol
