OK folks hit me with all options, availability & otherwise of brake upgrades for the FD?
Now ideally what i\'m after is the best set up possible from the standard 4 pots but in conflict to that i dont really want something which is guna turn wheels black every mile, squeak like a mouse being abused

& be really poor from cold.
But botttom line those are acceptable if it really gives excellent stopping power...
So:
Braided lines presumably a defo

Fluid which is it to be? DOT wot wot?
Discs, grooved, drilled, both & brand, availability etc?
Pads, seems to be the biggest area for different options so which are available for FD, pros cons thoughts?
Cold air feed from wherever i recall seeing some folks do on various cars, particularly worth while if i could rig it up?

Anyway any thoughts options etc greatfully received? :god

Dont eh braided lines. Also got Hawk pads fitted to the front which are pretty good. I dont feel however that they are as good as the Mintex 1155\'s that I had on the FTO. BUT...the Hawks wer £55 from yer man Geff and the 1155\'s are somewhere around twice that money!
Brake fluid? FTO I had 5.1, FD at the moment is 4.1. I think! LOL

that should read Done the braided brake lines!!
Mazda designed the FD to have one of the BEST braking systems up until a couple of years ago. This was using standard supplied discs and pads from the dealer.
Get braided lines and something like Motul, ATE RAcing Blue or AP brake fluid and you wont go far wrong.
After that the only real gains can be had by going AP/Brembo setups. And that costs more than 5 pence.

I have also heard that the brake system was one of the best going, but after giving my car a bit of a thrash at the weekend, my front discs turned metalic blue, and the backs had a bronze tint to them as though they were heading the same way. I only did a couple high speed stops, and they wernt that high speed.
Tim mentioned more venting to them, any other ideas?
My brakes are just destroyed after going on Brands. I did have grooved dics, and I managed to erase any sign of them having grooves on
I guess I was heavy on the stoppers then :p
Only problem is it doesnt leave me with many options as getting a similar setup again doesnt seem worth it if I can destroy a set in <1 day.
