ola!!!
right after driving my car round on standard ports and and 470fwhp it has finally given up the ghost:( i knew it was coming but i hoped it would not be needed till next year,
anyways the other week i gave it some stick and when i cam to a stp it was running mega lumpy, it felt like it was a tractor basically! also i noticed the oil catch tank was full of water????
so i decided to go for a rebuild and started to strip the engine down
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1010730.jpg)
it was a cold night without a duvet!! haha
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1010780.jpg)
all i had was some old rope and when it got near to a good height to pull it out it started creaking!!!! was mega scary!!! haha
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1010783.jpg)
think i missed a bit when i painted the bay the other month!! haha anyways it ooooot!!!!
right on to the things i found when stripping the block (ps big thanks to lindop for getting the crank nut off:Thumbs-up)
i dropped the oil pan to find this lot along with alot of metal filings, i was baffled to say the least
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1010833.jpg)
then after some hunting when the block was totally stripped i found the offending item!! it has one in the other side but this pic shows the threaded hole where the oil pan find should be?????? anyone else had this problem????
and also one of my housings is mega fooooked!!!! (note the deep scrape? think this was casued by massive failure of the apex seals, 2 out of the 3 came out in bits!!!!
i also noticed that i was missing 1 corner seal spring and that the front rotor had 2 piece apex seals and the rear did not????
anyways feel free to help me figure out wtf went wrong?? ha:Laugh
Quote from: leeincivic;596308ola!!!

maybe whoever had it before you did a diy rebuild :rollin
thats my thoughts and a crap one at that! ha
Wowzers lee that did give up on ya didnt it. Have you figured what happened then?
looking good mate, hope you find out what happened, could be a number of things though.
so what are the plans then?? :D
Quote from: DR SCHNITZEL;596413Wowzers lee that did give up on ya didnt it. Have you figured what happened then?
negative ghost rider!! lol
Quote from: karl_tate;596655looking good mate, hope you find out what happened, could be a number of things though.

big vastness where money used to be, big ports, big boost, big grin haha
the plans at the min is that am gonna spend some time tryin to figure out what the hell happened and also clean everything up and get it all nice so i dont have to pick it up with 3 layers of gloves on! lol
am defo gonna take my time tho and get everything as i want it first time so its gonna be a long process me thinks, plus am gonna have to get bits as i get dollars, just hoping that my end plates are re-usable to keep some sort of costing down, the housings are knackered tho so will make a nice mantle piece item:Giggle
anyone have any ideas where i could get an oil nozzle for the ecc shaft? (the piece that ended up in the sump)
stick it all in the dishwasher, although i got my dad to put mine through a shot blaster, i have a housing with a rotor inside it as a mantle piece but it didnt stay there for long :rollin
so are you going to be rebuilding it your self or getting some one to do it??
yeh, no point doing things twice, well thats the way i think anyway and non of this, that will do lol, i got a bit carried away with mine though
just ask some of the vendors for the nozzle.
yeah your rebuild thread is awesome, gonna be doin a bit of a wire tuck but nothing as extreme as yours,
cant afford these at the minute like you can http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=4 haha
up to now am gonna rebuild it myself but am considerin what my options are i.e. renew parts and do it myself or buy built engine to my specs off hayward or dragon, wanting large streetport so not to easy to come by as a built block,
might just settle all my worries and bang a disease-al engine in it! haha
cheers mate, its been quite a big project, was only going to replace the engine :Giggle
brass balls :rollin :rollin
i was going to rebuild it my self but then though, what am i thinking, its my first experience with rotaries. pistons engine, ok but i wanted piece of mind.
doesnt take long to strip the motor down though does it lol
DIEsel ftw :p
no mate it dont, took about half hour to strip it after getting the uber tight shaft nut off, and also crap loadsa pics so i know how to put it back together,
takin some of your knowledge tho karl and am gonna be moving some of the fuse boxes from out of sight, not gonna go to the extremes as you tho coz am scared!! ha
well last week just consisted of me degreasing everything i have removed and getting it all semi clean to check for damage, borrowed a degreasing bath off my mate and what a handy bit of kit it is!!!!
started off like this
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1010993.jpg)
and finished like this after 10 mins of cleanin with a brush:chat
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1010995.jpg)
and then i have started this weekend with stripping down the engine harness coz all the old sheething (spell???) was falling to bits in my hands
started off looking like this, all covered in oil with plastic covering just snappin off
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020001.jpg)
and ended up with this :xconfused not as bad as it looks, also removed the unused connectors from going single turbo, anyone see any connectors av left on by mistake?
oh and this is the mass of crappy oem conduit and tape etc etc that took 4 hours to rip off:Laugh
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020013.jpg)
can i have your harness lee lol?
looking good mate.
what did you use to degrease everything?? has come up really well.
it goes all brittle and just falls off doesnt it, crappy stuff, i found it easier to get them all plugged in the ones i needed and then just chopped the rest out but having the loom laid out would of been an easier approach lol
what are you going to use for trunking the wires ? i was wondering if theres somthing to use thats good with heat ? nice work btw :Thumbs-up

haha yeah it is really crappy stuff when ya start pickin it out eh!! i was however to stupid and keen to rip the engine out that i forgot to mark everything up that was not connected! haha
as for the degreaser i got it off me mate and it was already full so unsure what he filled it with, it does however smell very very similar to that gunk engine degreaser:yes

i used a company with good recommendation from karl on his rebuild thread^^^^ (cheers matey :Giggle)
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/sleeving/sleeving.php#conv
its got absolutely everything that you could possibly need, i am just gonna use the flexible convoluted tubing as hopefully once its all back in it will never ever come back out thus never notice problems caused by heat lol
sweet thanks i will store this site it looks handy
Nice work Lee..... looking forward to seeing this back on the road :Thumbs-up
ah right ok cool.
im sure when you get it back in you will figure it all out.
yeh they are a great company, bloke is very helpful as well, he forgot some bits off one of my orders and i had it on my door the next day.
Quote from: Kash_;599104Nice work Lee..... looking forward to seeing this back on the road :Thumbs-up
me too mate, seems like av done nothin but work on it the past 3 years!! haha
joys of rotaries, only seem to be driveable through the winter! need to sort my work timing out! lol

yeah sure i will matey, was a bit stuck on 2 connectors but since i have looked in my shed at the pile of bits i now see where they go :D
gonna take the secondary butterflies out tomoz morning before work to keep me busy and may even fire up the degreaser again for a quick cleanin of some parts i forgot to do, pics will keep comin as i go:wave
Sorry to see this happen mate, she was looking great as well. Hope you get her back on the road soon in time for the summer if we get one good luck.
yeah sods law innit, ha
well i had a lil go at removing the 2ndry butterflies then ran out of dremel bits so got it to this point! haha
from this

to this :evillaugh
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020024.jpg)
then on thursday i recieved a nice package full of the sheething to finish my engine loom up, did not know how much of each size i needed so i order 2 meters of every size! haha
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020025.jpg)
now the loom looks like this:) just need to go over the lot with insulation tape and its done, all chopped and wrapped neatly but will see if i have to butcher it again when it goes back onto the engine, bound to of not done it right first time, its not in my nature! think the injector resistors look ace so got them out the conduit to show em off a bit! ha
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020027.jpg)
still little by little doin a bit everyday, might be on hold for couple weeks now tho coz am sortin the side of the house up to get a carport built up so i can work on it whenever i want and not jus when the weather is good and its daylight
oh and big thanks to kash for the dragon gearbox mount when it comes:god
few more things done today:p
give some parts to a bloke with a nickname of \'god\'!! and tell ya what a spot on bloke and good and fast at welding, said he would fab up anythin i want too so keep him in mind, had him weld up all various things like the old coolant and vacuum nipples from when i have gone single, looked cack with pipes everywhere with bolts stuck in em to blank em!! pics show how i got them off him but av since blended everything in, good old dremel!!
anyways heres the pics
blanked coolant holes
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020052.jpg)
lim were it used to have vacuum nipples
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020054.jpg)
uim, used to be vacuum nipples there so there did:Giggle
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020056.jpg)
also notice on this housing that i have butchered it and cut off the bracket that the air pump used to bolt to, i remember the big tub sitting very very close to this so off with its head!!! ha
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020060.jpg)
uim with the holes welded up where the 2ndry butterflies used to be and also give it a quick clean up to smooth it all out nice,
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1020064.jpg)
just dunno what to do next!! bit stuck at the minute with lack of funds to start rebuilding the block so think i may jump in the engine bay and sort the wiring out and tuck it like a pre op tranny!!! lol:Thumbsup!
Hey lee you could help us with mine lol, Like the idea of getting rid of the bits that you dont need in the bay. i was thinking of sawing off the air pump bracket too. I have just had some guy weld up a massive crack in my oil feed, wonder if its the same guy.
Can i buy some of that spare wire surround off you?
Also lee are you getting rid of your aws? I did with the double throttle removal but i have put it back on.
Looking good! how much did you use for reshelling your loom? It\'s a job thats on my todo list while its out of the car :chat
Cheers

not alot mate, used around 2.5 meters of the 7mm bore and about half meter of the 20mm and 24mm stuff, may of ordered too much haha come in handy at some point tho eh:Giggle
long time no post:Laugh
been well busy lately sorting some stuff out so have not even touched the car, bit gutting like but i have made it a new home so i can finally get some work done whether night or rain :)
so work begins today in theory haha
going to start pulling the engine bay loom tomorrow to start re wrapping it as its an absolute mess and also got another towing loop from driftworks that i am goin to fit to the rear,
anyways here is my recent handy work, not bad cost considering what i have done, paint the house, pvc fascias, soffits, guttering, cladding, weld/build and put up carport and roof, fit day makers in the roofline all for no more than £500, bargain!!! haha

bit of a random post but all adds up to more rebuild working time! woop woop!!:Giggle
damn karl_tate haha reading his build thread has given me a big kick up the a-hole to get mine done haha
nice one and what a bargain.
sure feels good to be back on the road, what are the plans with it after the loom??
gonna get the bay painted better and also look at tuckin a few relays/fuse boxes, nothin as extreme as yours coz i simply dont have the balls haha, but before i do that am trying to find some r-magic style headlights so i know where exactly i can tuck everythin, anyone have any?
then av got loadsa ideas like atomic rex pedal set so that will get rid of the brake master cyclinder and also few other bits and bobs then its a case of the engine then, just waiting on the job situation at the minute before i go mad and blow all my money on it, :Thumbsup!
well av been bored so done a few bits, painted behind where the lights are gonna sit (could see slight bit of red down the bonnet gaps) and also fitted a driftworks tow loop to match the front as i have never trusted them tiny loops they come with as stock, also made all new brackets under the car for the diffuser to lift it up more coz now and then it would scrape the floor and am wantin to lower it a bit more too, took ages to do them but lifted it up a good 1.5 inch so well chuffed:Laugh
lets face it when its all finished and i get it to a track day am bound to ditch it in the gravel and need towing out haha

also anybody have any 18\'s they would be interested in tradin for my volk 17\'s???
Looking good mate. Just out of interest how did you attach the two hook to the front. I have DW tow hook same as yours but couldnt mount it where I wanted (roughly same position as yours but on the other side) without doing abit of drilling.
got in this thread from ages ago how i fitted it with pics matey, hope it helps

right bit of an update, work has been slow coz am on a mega saving spree, why cant hayward do finance?! haha :Laugh
all the engine bay is now painted and also painted some parts to give em a bit of a spruce, chuffed with how they turned out, also tucked the fan relays and sorted some of the wiring a bit,

looking good, been waiting for a update, you have been slacking lol
what a mare masking things up are huh :Grrr
whats the news on the engine??
cheers for the comments lads :Tongue1
yeah karl its a mare alright, went through nearly 3 rolls of maskin tape lol i feel your pain on painting the bay haha
dropped my lights off at the paintshop todsay to get painted so said they should be done for next week coz he is uber busy,
news on the engine is still a static one, took it all out the cardboard boxes as i noticed a small bit of surface rust coz i degreased the lot, so bought i big plastic storagethingy and flad the lot in wd40 :D
i am dying to get it back on the road tbh but funds are stoppin me at the min, yet again why dont no rotary boys do finance? haha, am still unsure what can be re-used etc so need to start lookin into it, also i kinda forgot i need a new clutch and flywheel so gotta start lookin for the way to go??
hows yours now karl?
are you planning on doing anything else on the car, or is it just put the engine back in??
unsure about clutch really as you are running quite a bit more power than i am, heard good things about the os giken twin plate but not cheap, is the one that was in there worn??
email me at karl _ tate @hotmail.com got an option re engine
Top work matey, that looks ....... lovely!!
May i suggest keeping the lights that colour? It might just be me, but it offsets the white and black really nicely :3gears-rh :3gears-rh
email sent karl:Thumbs-up
also i have been looking at the exedy hyper twin clutch but is the os giken the best/cheaper option to go for or looking around the same cost?
regards to trotter i cant really see it looking nice with the lights stayin that colour, it looks like an after thought i reckon, like dame edna lighting haha
alo does anyone know a good place to get an assortment of stainless steel bolts, nuts, machine screws etc to replace the crappy ones in my bay?

OK, I see the resistor you have pictured. I have been trying to determine where it goes in the engine bay. Can you help with this.
it sits in the driverside next to the firewall, under the brake master cyclinder, dunno what its for tho, anyone?
right engine bay is finished ready for engine!! bored now tho haha,
fitted a dragon gearbox brace so av managed to get rid of the bit of wood holding it up haha i did notice while i was under the car the adjustable arms are totally different on each side???? could this of been a cause of my car tramlining over bumps, white lines etc? clearly needs setting up tho,
anybody used these guys heard they are ace? http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/
made up some new brake and clutch lines at the weekend which am made up with :)

Hey lee car looks really nice, just missing an engine, haha. I believe your gonna give us a hand removing my abs, in a few weeks? And if you think of upgrading your brakes to bigger ones, i\'ll be intrested in purchasing yours.
looking good lee. keep at it :D and yeh i know what you mean, nice one.
yeh bren is a top bloke, how much did you pay for the lights??
hnmmm im sure there are plenty of people who would argue about brens niceness...
coming from having a 200sx and falling four buying his cheap quality products then having them ALL fail...
anyway back on topic, your car looks stunning and really makes me want to strip mine and do the same but i need a garage first lol! and a second car...

yeah not a problem mate, just dont offer any warranty against my work haha, kav did mention about the brakes, might just look for 356mm disks and brackets for the min but will keep my options open, cheers dude

malice i always thought bren was the 200 man to go to for all the parts???
and karl i paid £60 for the hids, mine were the h3 type to fit in the lights av got but dunno if the price varies with type?? made up with them tho :Thumbsup!
he is one of the biggest sellers for 200sx stuff, however problem is he buys all of his "apex performance" stuff from cheap factories in china, which at the end of the day isnt a huge problem however he then slags off other companies that sell exactly the same product for less money and says "well they are cheap chinese coppies" when i had my 200 i got fooled and purchased stuff off of him, and quickly learnt how stupid i was, exhaust system (turbo back) coilovers, god knows what else, which i then had to replace over and over, because they were so bad!
which is why with my rx7 im saving before i buy stuff, i learnt buy cheap buy twice... unless your getting a bargain on stuff like i just did with a power fc lol! and i can understand things like buying xs power intercoolers to make your own vmounts out of... and i will go that route i just dont like brens attitude and the way he works...
fair enough i will take your word for it, never dealt with him before but know he is big in the 200 world so thought he was the person to go to, when i went up there to get the lights his stock is massive so yeah he prob does buy it all from china otherwise the unit would be full of millions of pounds worth of gear,
my only quarm with him is that i asked if he could get an exedy clutch and flywheel cheaper than the £1100 i have seen them for and he said he would email me a price, the email he sent me said that he could not and offered me carbonetics one at £1500 plus vat, i did ask for a CHEAPER price than the exedy haha
still happy with the lights he gave me but will take your words on board :Thumbsup!

what ya\'ll think?
coming along nicely dude, where does the screamer pipe exit?? seems very long although i havent seen other people\'s setup.
and the painted bits look cool as :yes masking is a joke.
screamer exits just behind the front drivers wheel matey, mine at the minute was only around 5 inches long and pointed straight towards the ground, hopefully there will be enough room to get it exiting out of a hole in the skirts :p
yeah i wanted a stand out colour but could not find one so i got the red, score!! haha, just waiting for a vht clear lacquer to turn up to get it nice and smooth and fingers crosser easier to clean if i need to, :3Confused
Sweet lights dude. Super safe.
cheers la, did ya look for a ciggy lighter? hows yours running now?
the plates that were lumo orange have now gone red after using some vht clear to protect it a bit, gutted:(
got a replacement front housing from rx motors today, top blokes and quick delivery,:Thumbs-up

anyone got ideas on a clutch??
awsome!
wish i had the skill and the patients
no skills involved i pay people for that! haha:Giggle
Rock on lee ! not long now dude ,say hello to jaydee for me ha ha

right got bored today so did some work on the boot ready for the swirl pot and pump, bare in mind i need to sort the wiring out to the pumps and also fix the pump and pot down, does the position look ok for ya\'ll?
also gonna get a new tyre and paint the space saver white (for a change haha), was gonna get shut of it but better safe than sorry eh :D

feature wheel :Thumbs-up
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P10209941024x768.jpg)
now to figure out where to mount the swirl pot and pump, ideas???
looks good and i know people do put them in the boot etc but the only place i would put another pump and a swirl pot is under the car. if you get the car in the air and have a look next to where the fuel filter is mounted, on the passengers side, there is a charcoal canister. great place to mount but its just there is little room to work.
btw where did you get the carpet from, looks cool.
yeah i have seen a few there, dont reworx make a tank to sit under ther??? whats the purpose of the charcoal canister anyways??
yeah the only reason i am going for the boot is for ease and also i am going to get another pump now too so would be harder to stash 2 pumps! haha
the carpet is good old halfrauds acoustic cloth, dont make the mistake i did and buy just their black cloth coz when i got home i realised it was different to the acoustic stuff i covered around the battery in, plus its fluffy haha
nice work on rx7 am get my rx7 rebuilt as well been at jm-imposts for 15weeks am get lots of work dun to it
cheers mate, ya got yourself a nice motor there gavin, envy of most rex owners for sure:p
well i picked my t51r up today coz the tips absolutely withered it!! gave it to the blokes down at turbo clinic in capenhurst and what a job they did, recommend them for anyone really,

quick update,
got my engine back yesterday off era and ya only have to look at the work to see how amazing it looks, he made an amazing job of the half bridge ports and built it up to the highest quality i could ask for, internals are all new bearings, gaskets/seals and also atkins solid corner seals and pts apex seals,
oh yeah check me out!!! haha
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P10302671024x768.jpg)

i would have sex with that engine :|
that is SEXY! hope you are gonna have polished everything on it lol?!
engine mounts look like they will be fun! i demand running vids!
will a half bridge brap?? how much does a rebuild like that cost? pm if u want :D
that so mad engine love it :InLove
cheers lads yeah am chuffed with it, jus cant wait to get it goin down the road now :)
envyd would you still want sloppy seconds?? haha
malice yeah am gonna get most things polished just need to speak to a bloke who av found that should hopefully do it, also lets just say its a costly but well worth while thing to do (cant pm haha) and yeah its gonna be a brapper :) not as much as a full port but still give that note
yeah if you dont mind mate :Giggle
makes me hope mine is fooked so i can build one just like it!
mate i would look at polishing bits you\'re self! i have given it a go £30 on a bench grinder and £50 on a polishing mop kit plus a bit of time! hell of alot cheaper than paying someone else to do it lol!
yeah i tried a while ago on my uim but gave up, suppose if i have got the tools its much easier coz i only had the mops for in the drill so took forever, plus its smoothin all the casting marks off that would do my head in, where did you get your polishing stuff from mate?
Hey Lee. I was over at Era\'s the other day talking about the work he\'s doing to my engine and i saw yours on his bench. He really did some nice work to your ports :D
Gonna be a lot of fun when you get it all up and running again. Brap Brap :D
Adam
yeah adam i cant wait! top bloke tho aint he, yeah big ports ya gotta love em!! haha
what you doin to yours matey?
I\'m losing the twins and have got a T04R so Era is doing me a \'decent\' sized street port to match it :p
Wish i had your skill to tidy up my engine bay like that. Might have to have a go with the loom though. Electrical scares me :rollin
Adam
cool sure he will sort you out good,
loom is a mare mate and until i lay it down next to the engine today and tried to figure out where the f it all goes i thought i was goin well haha:chat
Oh he\'s already getting into it now. Had a few surprises already :(
Well feel free to come back down this way and have a go at sorting out my loom :p
Adam
would love to do your loom even tho you aint said a day i would like to point out i will be busy feeding my pet dinosaur that day :p
easy as soon as all the old crappy covering is off tho,
what surprises did he find?
found loadsa mad stuff with mine inc a dint in the rotor i never saw and thought was ok, ha
lee ada7 is the guy to talk to about polishing, you need a polishing kit with abbrasive mops, that will get out all the casting marks first.... then you polish to get a mirror finish...
http://www.perfectpolishingkits.co.uk/
http://www.thepolishingshop.co.uk/
these 2 have everything you would need...
awesome thanks for that mate ya a star!!
so ada7 whats the polishing technique :) and also a cheap place for a bench machine?
i got my bench grinder from some little hardware shop it was like 27quid lol, really is worth it, but it is a messy dirty job... oh and wear a mask, i know it seems like a pointless exercise but i my nose was burning and didnt know why lol, alloy particles up your nose hurts and burns and comes out black when u blow it lol!
Cheapest place to get a bench grinder from is to \'borrow\' one from a guy at work and hope he forgets for a while :rollin Failing that have a look on ebay for a 2nd hand one or Machine Mart (other companies are avalible :p)
If you get that kit Malice has put the link to then just follow the steps and take as much time as you can. For hard to get to areas you have to either use a dremmel or get you hands really dirty and use sandpaper. Starting at the low number and working up. Then polish the hell out of it :D
Adam
oooo would bring back memories of my welding days with black bogies haha
looks like a definate avenue am gonna go down cheers buddy :) so ya fancy lending me yours adam? haha i will remind you av got it i promise haha

Its long winded and you do get very messy but it\'s well worth it. If you have a look at my project thread (see sig link) then you\'ll see some of the work i\'ve done so far myself :D
Adam
What kind of dinosaur do you have btw? :p
Adam
haha its just a job i would not wish on my enemies! ha,
its nice to start wrapping everything but to get to that point the old stuff has to be pulled apart at a sum of alot of hours, horrible sticky oil covered stuff like,
will point ya in the right direction if ya need help tho dude:p
just having a nose looks wicked lee
cheers mate, am gettin excited now haha, not quite as quick a turnaround as yours tho mate ha good to see ya got the show:Thumbs-up

Sweet Potatoes
looks well :D
going to be making some sweet noises :D
what exhaust is on the car??
cheers dude, at the min its got a blitz nur spec box, unsure on whether am gonna go the 4" route tho, if i do stick with the 3" am gonna get the dragon silenced mid pipe coz am gettin too old for noise haha
Go 4" mate you wont regret it. My 4" exhaust is miles quieter than my nurspec was
yeah?? alot like? i had been watchin ya thread on fduk but no pics? boooo! haha
did you make it up yourself or get someone to do it? i can only find a place in scotland that will make up a 4" system for me, tis far but could be an opportunity for run in mileage:Laugh
Tim @ Rxmotors made it for me.To be honest if you can weld and have access to a ramp it wouldnt be difficult to do. Im just learning to weld so was a bit to much for me:o
ex fabricator so am ok there haha, ya manage to get any pics? what ya run for a backbox?
is it me or is it weird that its quieter with a bigger bore:xconfused
used 2 massive magnaflow silencers:Thumbsup!.
Did take pics but only with my phone and they came out poo.
poo pics will do dude :)
so ya ran just the 2 boxes mid car or one mid one as backbox?
the nurspec is just stupidly loud haha
my mate has just had an exhaust made for his z4 by blueflame, not sure if they have a good or bad rep but they have done an amazing job on his. they are in Skelmersdale which carnt be that far for you.
we need a vids :D
ya know what never even thought about them ha, i got loadsa work done by them when i had my r1 and totally forgot they do cars too :) dont just need vids need it runnin too!! haha, mates finished his 200sx so its puskin me to get mine done finally ha,
if it sits there any longer its gonna end up a show car coz i keep pullin parts off to paint or polish haha
Looking amazing Lee :D
Adam

Wiped them now.
usedthis one for mid box

http://www.magnaflow.it/02product/00mf/displayapplications.asp?partnumber=14771
no point having it on the road in this weather though, do it once, do it right i say :yes
whats the spec of the 200?? my mate has one with 540 i think and its pretty mental haha
i was meaning vids of the exhaust, and lee\'s car in general since the new map :D :D
cheers dude, how did you get around fitting it up to the turbo? coz av got 3" downpipe so would i come off the downpipe with a step up to 4"?
also jus realised i ait put pics up of me other polished bits :) got me alternator and uim done too,
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P10304321024x768.jpg)
Done 4" from turbo back. if i remember rightly he took the v band off the 3" downpipe then welded it to the 4" pipe
i was meaning vids of the exhaust, and lee\'s car in general since the new map :D :D[/quote]
Dont really use it that much in winter:(
Forced myself to use it the other night to test my new lights and almost lost the back end:o bit to eager in damp conditions so will have to wait until spring
ah i gets ya, sayin that the v-band flange is plenty big enough to do that aint it, seriously got me thinkin bout blowing the dust off the welding mask now haha
I think im right in saying it spools the turbo quicker aswell. Im now seeing full boost by 4400 rpm.
What you going to be using the car for? and what boost you planning to run it at?
mainly road but the occasional track/drag blast, unsure of what boost i am goin to be running yet coz got loads to sort till it comes to that, i am puttin the best i can on in every way so i can handle higher boost if needed during mapping, know what i mean?
end of the day last thing i need is to pt my foot down on the street and end up backwards round a roundabout haha
Quote from: lee mills;654661Dont really use it that much in winter:(

no i dont, mine is off the road now, went for a blast the other weekend when it was nice.
what rad and intercooler setup are you going for then??
plenum and alt looks sweet, mine have gone really dull now, thinking what i can do to protect the finish?? lacquer??
get that autoglym polish out matey :p laquer will dull polished parts loads, tried it on me mountain bike forks once and dulled crap loads
got a apex rad and greddy fmic, gonna have to see what the running temps are but am happy with how it is for now at least
will be awesome when its finished
if you polish the mani\'s etc up nice take it to a powdercoat place they can do clear powdercoat and will leave it looking mega shiney, the powdercoat gives it an extra deep shine too.
learn somethin new everyday, :Thumbsup! looks like powdercoat clear is the way :)
right am finally making some progress on the fuel an picked up this little lot yesterday :)
where did you get the alternator polished at that\'s a tidy job so far well done!!!!!!
long time no post :Giggle
got the polishing done by a bloke in chester called glencross restorations, works from a shed in his garden but well chuffed with the work like,
got it looking like this now
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/leeincivic/rx7%20pics/P1030949.jpg)
Loving that lee. So neat and simple. Top work with the polishing too. I know how much effort goes into getting that kind of finish :D
Adam
