Title: FD Fuel pump voltage
Post by: dturpin on April 02, 2009, 06:15:28 PM
Hi everyone been having a few issues with my FD and I would like to check the voltage at the fuel pump, should it be a constant 12volts?  Or does it start off low and increase with the engine revs?  Any help would be appreciated.

Yes there is a circuit which includes a relay & resistor which means at low revs the fuel pump does not get the full 12+ volts.

THanks for the help.  One more thing should you be able to hear the fuel pump prime when the ignition is switched on its a Apexi BNR33 fuel pump.

As above, it\'s dual voltage :)

You should probably hear it prime, but depends how loud your pump is - with the stock pump it\'s barely audible - you need to put your ear right bu the petrol flap/in the boot.
With my Wlabro it\'s a bit mroe obvious!

If you\'re trying to check if your pump is knackered, the best way is to short two of the pins in the diagnosis box - procedure is in the manual. Then turn the ignition on and it will run the pump :)
