Hi guys,
Just looking for some feedback on how you guys get the front end high enough to slide a hydraulic jack under your cars?
I\'m toying with some light alloy ramps like the ones on this page:
http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/shopwise.pl?act=sect&pt=52&s=325&id=proalloy
But £115 including delivery seems a bit steep for some folded metal - though thats a lot cheaper than Demon-Tweeks!
Thanks!
Quite expensive but do look very nice :InLove, of course you could always knock yourself something up out of a bit of old plywood (just make sure the ends of the nails are sticking down and not up though!) :chat
Ummm, Bricks :D
Seriously, get some bits of timber and make some small ramps - Just bits og 1" thick and layer them, getting shorter as you go up. Shoul;d give you enough room to slip a ramp under.
I\'m just lazy/tight however, and i stick the scissor jack under the jacking point, pop it up a few inches, then slide the trolley under.

Yep, expensive was my thought - I\'d rather spend the cash on mods than tools... Already blown over £1200 this month which I can\'t really afford thanks to UKGOV taking away my bonus...:Grrr
I think I\'ll give it a try on some wood and see how I get on - I like the fact the ramps have a dip at the top though to stop you from driving over the end of them though!
If anyone else knows a cheaper supplier of ramps please shout! I don\'t want those nasty halfords jobbies though - they\'re not shallow enough angled to get under the front bumper I don\'t think.

Well even on the timber version you could secure a block of wood at the end of each ramp to act as a stop. Mind you they\'ll never look quite as sexy as the ones in the ad!

Well yes, if I could be @rsed with making something I\'d weld my own up! :Giggle But you got right to the point, I like the sexy alloy ramps!
I don\'t trust the sills on my car by the way, that\'s why I don\'t just scissor jack it - have a horrible vision of the jack punching through the floor! Even when the car is on axle stands I keep a jack under the diff / crossmember so the weight is split three ways!
Does anyone have any photo\'s of their dodgy botch solutions?
crap pic i know but ya can see the ramps i made to get round the same problem you seem to be having:mmmm cheap and cheerful :)

Dude, not sure if you know, but you\'ve got a small leak out the bottom of your rad :(
no way i never noticed that!!!:evillaugh
I\'ve got a small kerb outside my flat which I just drive up on to. Job done!!
Have you had your tracking checked recently? :Giggle
Lol, that would explain a lot actually....
Hehe, nah - it\'s a wee raised thing, kinda like the block paving stones you get in driveways but only an inch or so high and its cambered both sides so easy to drive up on. All i need to get a proper jack under car! :D
