Title: Odd Problem - Please Help
Post by: rs200tez on March 30, 2009, 05:49:03 PM
I have a problem which has now developed since I flooded the rex on Sunday.  To de-flood I removed the intercooler inlet pipe (the bit that connects to the plenum), took out all the spark plugs and turned the engine over with the EGI main fuse removed to remove excess fuel.  I then put the plugs back in and she started up.  Went for a drive, performance was as expected (awesome) suddenly lost all boost and at this point realised that the OEM temp gauge had not budged from rest.

Found that the intercooler pipe right down by the intercooler had popped off.  I reconnected and she now boosts ok, however performance and the mental sound has gone??????  Temp gauge still not budged.

Car was running fine until I flooded it and now I have these problems - I suspect I may have done something during the de-flood procedure.:2Rolleyes

Car spec is - Single turbo, HKS Fcon Pro ECU.

Has anyone got any ideas please?

does it still hold the same amount of boost as it did before??

i would just have a good look around near the plugs and see if any sensors have come off.

Boost is reading the same (I take a feed from the plenum)... but the insane force of acceleration is not there - nor is the mental sound you get?? All very strange because after I deflooded it - it ran perfectly for 10 mins until the intercooler pipe popped off - from this point it\'s not performing.

Will double check everything I can think of - thanks Karl.

It\'s a wierd one.... when the pipe popped off it must have caused a problem somewhere else because it was running A ok.

Just to clear this up - A massive thanks to Nik who today resolved my problem. Really good to meet you Nik and congrats on the new arrival.
:cheers
Nik had a good poke around made sure everything was connected to what it should - then he re-connected the water temp sender (the one by the oil filter). Guess there must be a feed to the HKS Fcon Pro for the water temp from here too which meant that the ECU was not allowing full power. Whatever it was Nik sorted it - big thanks!! I cant believe how kind and helpful people are on here.

On another note - if you are looking for an RX7 - Nik has his for sale which is an awesome example, it\'s got all the kit; recently rebuilt, single turbo conversion, Apex\'i PFC, really nice interior and a cracking bodykit - and in the fastest colour; red  ;)
