Title: wheel queries!
Post by: gear1275 on March 29, 2009, 03:32:22 PM
hello there, i have just bought myself some new wheels for my fd rx-7. i had the original ones on there before, and i have just bought some rx-8 chrome ones?? does anybody have any thoughts on them? garish, nice? i now need to put some tyres on them. if i fit 225 40 18\'s will they foul atall? also, i now need to get rid of the old ones, all in average condition, two with brand new tyres, and two with low but useable tyres, i was just wondering if with the standard wheels being so light that they would be sought after on here among members, and how much they would sell for if anybody was interested??
any reply would be greatly recieved even if you think the new ones would look horrendous!!
thanks, james

^ sorry but I think they look rubbish, and are 7.5inch\'s wide so half an inch smaller than standard. If you do go for them, those tyres will fit fine. A good set of standard alloys and tyres you are looking at around the £150 depending on tyre make and tread.

Unless I\'m very much mistaken, RX8 stock wheels are 8j :)

RX8 wheels only look ok when viewed directly from the side. When you look at an angle, they sit so far in even with spacers it spoils it. I can\'t wait to get rid of mine:

See what I mean?

No they\'re not Chris. RX8 wheels have a much higher offset than standard RX7 ones IIRC. Added to them being actually narrower than standard too, they really get lost in the arches.

Gear, I\'d do what I\'m doing, get some good offset/wider wheels, keep the RX8s for winter. :)

right then, ive just put the new rx-8 wheels on and imho they probably stick in as much as the original so they arent that bad but by no means perfect!

Standard wheel nuts fit RX-8 wheels.
