There are lots of complaints about this mapping service, they are mapping things such as police stations and army barraks that could be use for attacks if someone was so inclinded to do so.

And what would stop someone from taking photo\'s of an army barracks themselves!? It\'s so stupid people complaining about this service.

Er not really. They can see that anyways, it\'s a public highway. I can walk past your house and surrounding area and pick lots of targets....not that I would with those dogs of yours ;)

The photo was also taken at some point last year so in what way is it useful to anyone? They know where my car was parked last year...outside a house I no longer live in. I mean as far as I know I own the only white and modified FD in Sheffield so it\'s not that difficult to locate it ;)

no no you is missing the point Paul,

A theif could see where the car was parked and if there was a garage and also map a get away route all from home, if someone was taking pics outside your house you would notice, also if you think you knew where a certain car was parked but not sure you could check from the comfort of your own home.

I think its a bad idea myself.

I understand what you mean Gurj, but what you\'re saying would only apply if the photos were kept up to date but as it stands they\'re around 6 months old, i.e. I don\'t even live at that house any more.

If the photos were always up to date then I\'d have a problem but not the way it currently is :)

I know of a few nice cars around where I live, where they normally park them, and routes around. Didn\'t use Google for that. It\'s makes no difference if you ask me.

Not a problem for you paul, but it is for me and most others on here who haven\'t move house in the past 6 months. Some of us won\'t be bothered and will dismiss it with the fact that anyone could walk past and eyeball your car up if they wanted to. I agree with gurj here. The point being, potential thieves do not have to risk eyeballing your car up anymore. They can do it for as long as they want whenver they want night or day from their computers whilst smoking a joint and drinking a can of special brew:guinness

I know what your going to say next. "well they drive past your house and have seen the car anyway so whats the difference?"

Well the difference being, if just one person who \'hasn\'t\' seen my car on the drive might happen to be eyeballing nice cars up on folks drives, by taking my car off streetview, i am less likely to fall victim to his car theft crime.

My road hasn\'t been googled yet, but i\'ll make sure i get my house removed off streetview. If my car wasn\'t on the drive, it wouldn\'t bother me.

Fair enough Robbie I understand your point :) It\'s still a pretty big chance someone would be taking by assuming things like the fact that it was your car on your drive, that you still own the car, that you still live there etc. Bearing in mind that these photos are 6+ months old before they\'re put up and judging by googlemaps satellite view they don\'t get updated for years.

I guess I\'ll just have to agree to disagree!

Quoteand also map a get away route all from home

Better ban maps as well then.

Out of interest, and just for the hell of it, lets see if we can locate expensive cars to nick using streetview, non Mazda and not withing 100 miles of your area.

I think if i were looking to steal quality motors I\'d just go to somewhere like Wilmslow and have a walk round.

Worked there the other day - dripping or what.
