Title: Water/Methanol Nozzles (What size)
Post by: C J R on March 21, 2009, 02:28:34 PM
Hi,
Currently have 50/50 mix of water and methanol injected in to the inlet manifold.
Suffered last year with high inlet air temps when stood still in the lanes at Santa Pod waiting for a run up the strip.

Want to add a nozzle pre intercooler to reduce intercooler temps.

The inlet manifold nozzle does not have a size marked on it and I\'ve tried gauging by using the shank of very small drills but cannot determine the correct size.

Can anyone recommend a method of confirming the size and/or where I could buy the second nozzle from.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Thanks for your reply.

The system is a home made system (came on the car). Uses the front screen wash bottle which has a connection plastic welded in the bottom with a large pump mounted in the head light space.
Current nozzle is activated at 0.9 bar and injects via a nozzle tapped in the Greddy inlet manifold.

If the current nozzle is 0.5mm, should I fit another 0.5mm in the intercooler pipe, pre intercooler, or fit 2 x 0.25mm nozzles ?

Thanks
Chris

well a 0.5mm will evaporate in 35c air easily enough so you air coming out of your turbo charger pre intercooler will be much hotter than that which means in theory you could go even larger than that, id try 0.5mm first, check your temps then maybe up it to 0.8 and try it, obviously if you go to big you will loose power but those 2 jets will at least give you a starting point where you wont have a problem

Many thanks for your advice.

Are the nozzles easily available and where would you suggest I could buy from ? I haven\'t seen nozzles like these advertised.

Thanks
Chris
