Title: hks induction kit
Post by: mikeeech on April 10, 2004, 11:34:11 AM
O.K. another silly question...

In taking my air box off to look for my coolant leak I found that it was patched together with mastic...!:eek:

Good excuse to fit an induction kit... anyway I got a second hand unti from rotechnics and fitted it today. It came with no fitting instrcutions and, as is par for the course for me at least, I have a bit left over.

My question is... What is it a where does it go!:confused:
Piccy below I hope

Not the best picture I grant you but any Ideas where I can put it that won\'t hurt too much?

About 3/4rs the way along a long pipe that vents to the atmosphere.

Of course now you;re going to say what is it and i\'m going to look blankly at you as my HKS induction kit was removed for my by Geff at RE:Worx when I had my Apexi GT radiator, intercooler and induction put in.

Now if anyone has photos of all the parts I\'d appreciate it if they could post as I want to sell mine, am sure Geff said I should have 4 bits, but I can only identify 3.

As you look down on the stock airbox there is a nipple on the top right that goes back toward the UIM. It\'s sort of like an air bypass and spits air into the airbox. Like a breather (don\'t know the correct term)
The section of the airbox that this is connected to is just baffled inside. There is a pipe on the right hannd side of the airbox that just drops down to the ground under the airbox. It vents the air to atmosphere.
You just have to join these 2 hoses together with the little valve that is left over. It acts as a silencer type thing. If not you will get a raspy kind of noise as the air is released.

Thanks guys;
I was begininning to wonder whether it was some kind of resonant cavity since my car has been making some funny noices when changing gear since I fitted it. I best get it fitted as it sounds like a bad somker...:D
Cheers,
Mike

I did have a extra bit other than those in the pic above. That was a small (30mmx20mm) metal plate with a sprug loaded filter in it. I guessed that this was for the pipe that vented to atmosphere and fixed it into my air diverter. I\'ll post a pic tomorrow as it\'s too dark now.
Later.
