Title: Car passed MOT
Post by: pdtaylor18 on March 17, 2009, 11:55:04 AM
Well it all went well for the MOT for my orange cab, emissions were pretty good, took a fair bit to get the CO down but a bit of tweaking and a few revs and it passed. HC was about 400 (1200 max) so overall very pleased considering its only done about 4 miles since rebuild. Dont forget that it has no emissions attached to the engine at all and at present controlled by a Jap tuned ECU.
No advisories at all, he was gobsmacked at the like new condition underneath and said one year old cars come in worse, mind you it is totally rust free and where I can have replaced all the nuts and bolts underneath which does give a good first impression. Brakes were excellent on the front and just about reached 300 and these are still yet to bed in as they are all new.

So excellent news, any other work to do will carry on in my FC thread:

No not really, just the usual clean and coat of stone chip guard which I find better than waxoyle. Replacing nuts and bolts with new and painting any brackets etc just gives it that new look. I was lucky as this car was stored for a while and maybe only been on UK roads for about two years since coming from Japan so it has not weathered like some.

add 3 onto that !!! I have no airpump or emission equipment at all so it did alright really. That was with a throttle body that I had to set up from scratch and I know it was way off as I could not get the clearance right for the primary thottle valve and its mating face right. I have another that i had removed the secondaries and removed all the cold start stuff so thats going on it as i know it all works. I could have got it better if i played with the AFM but i left that alone.

0.45 is very good, take it thats with all the emissions? I was quite pleased with the HC as I had got them down from 1100 to 400, not sure what to put that down too but the more the engine beds in the better it gets. Not really sure on the HC stuff and what you do to get it lower apart from having a really good clean burning engine.

0.45 is just running the air pump, its got no cats and a lot of the emissions stuff is missing lol I had to take out a vacuum capacitor cause it wasn\'t connected to anything lol.

well done with all the work you have put into it :D I know when I saw it there wasn\'t much in yet :)
