Title: new to the world of rotary
Post by: luke_sedz on March 15, 2009, 08:41:50 PM
Hi,
I am new to the world of Rotary but have been reading up for a long time and have wanted an FD for even longer.
I am now just trying to find the best way to get myself a good car.

I don\'t really mind about the general condition of the car as I can get parts from Japan easily and have a good body shop, but I just want to get a good runner.

Ideally a car with good warranty/freshish rebuild.

Anyway please get back to me if you have any ideas/suggestions of cars available.

Thanks a lot
Luke

well what\'s the budget? what do you plan to use the car for and do you want a twin or single turbo set up.

im sure theres plenty of nice cars on pistonheads.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/934777.htm remove the lights and spoiler and this one would look awesome, 900 on the rebuild. It might be worth looking into how of of the engine rebuilt. If an engines just had new seals then its not going to last as long as an engine with new rotor housings etc. The other option you could go for is a shell with a knackered engine and go get it rebuilt yourself. Its all up to you really. Personally i\'d look for a good shell as a decent body is going to be harder to get hold of than a decent engine.

just my 2p :D

oh and welcome to the club

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, not really sure about single or twin, i was going to stick with twin as i thought it would be a more reliable setup as it is the stock configuration but have heard about the potentially not good 3500rpm cross over so i guess i am open to both ideas.

The budget is anywhere between £3k and £4K.

Yes i have looked at that one on PH, but haven\'t had chance to speak to the guy yet so not sure how many miles it has done since the rebuild, how did you know it was 900 or do you know the car?

I import Honda\'s (Tegiwa Imports) and all the parts to go with them from Japan at the moment but fancy a change. The car will just be used for as a second car for all the uses a second car has really, the odd track day maybe and just some good drives.
