I\'ve been offered some 18" TSW wheels at a good price with budget tyres on that will need to be replaced with decent rubber.
Trouble is, all four wheels are 18x8j and although they look good on the car I am not sure that the rears will be up to much on track and therefore will only be a cosmetic set.
Any comments on using 8j on the rear with a 255/35 tyre and does anyone know what the wheels were called - the back of the wheel just says SE77 TSW.
Thanks
Keith
There\'s a better pic of the wheel to see if you can identify it please.
Thanks
Keith
255 back and 235 front was the standard tyre widths for the 99 on RX-7 so you should be fine,
Thanks for the reply Clive.
Would the 18x8j rim width on the back as opposed to the normal 8.5j rim width make much difference though?
Keith
Hi Keith, the standard FD alloys are 16x8 with 225 tyres all round.
99 Spec wheels were 17x8 front with 235/45/17 tyres and rears were 17x8.5 with 255/40/17 tyres.
There is no reason why you cant have 18x8 all round. You can stagger the tyres and have 225 on the front and 245 on the rears on 8J wheels if you wanted
Ok that seems very helpful.
One final question though, what is the difference between the J or JJ on the rim width?
Keith
Its to do with tyre bead profiles, have a little look here. It should explain it a bit better.
