Hi people, just bought myself a 1992 Mazda RX7 Type R and thought i would post a couple of pics and introduce myself.
This is my first rotary and before this was quite into my french hatches.
I have always loved these cars and decided recently that it the right time to take the plunge and finally get one!
It is pretty much completely standard and has a fresh rebuild from Jimmy\'s so don\'t intend to change too much (Famous last words i\'m sure) just want to tidy it up and maybe make some minor mods to help with track days etc.
I will try to get along to a few events this year and look forward to meeting some of you in person :)

Welcome to the club and to the wonderful world of rotaries.
Nice clean looking standard car you got there.
There\'s a few guys in your area to keep an eye out on things on here and i\'m sure you\'ll be able to meet up with others :D
Adam
Welcome, looks in nice condition, good to have another sussex car.
welcome to the club :)
Don\'t think I\'ve ever seen one that std in my life :2eek
Very nice matey.....
Welcome to the nut house ;)
Jono
Yep, that is 100% standard looking. Welcome BTW. What ya think of it then?
Love it!!! Can\'t stop looking at it :D
Can\'t wait till the engine rebuild is bedded in so i can see what the car can really do lol
its an addiction.....before you know it you will be buying all sorts of bits for it.
it\'s good to see a stock one.
theres a silver uk one that sits by the old pier at brighton with an rx7 number plate on it.....dont know if you have seen that?
Not seen that one, only one around i have noticed is a white one sometimes near lancing/worthing.
There seem to be so few about, most of my mates/family have never even seen one before!
i live in bognor and some old grandad asked me if it was some kind of kit car lol :2Rolleyes
Welcome to the club :Thumbs-up. I commute in and out of Brighton all the time in my red FD, but I work awful shifts so you\'dve been more likely to hear it than see it unless you\'re usually out in the small hours! Yours looks like a lovely example, like the guys say, rare to find one that standard.

Well, your in for a nice surprise then mate. This will eat any of your french hot hatches, where they run out of steam at 80, this is just getting started, especially in 3rd gear as it\'s looooooooooooooong. I remember when i first got mine, it was standard like yours and my mate had a tuned 309goodwood pushing about 170bhp or so. I absolutely blew him away going up a long straight road it was laughable, like he wasn\'t even trying. 1 year later he bought a single turbo fc
Brighton Rex
Welcome to the club mate, nice car you have there…but it will not stay standard for long, same happened to mine, started fairly standard â€" now still twin turbo but with all the supporting mods and producing 350BHP
Enjoy the car

Michaelb

Not parking at the Pier any more as the platform is falling down and we are not allowed to park there.
Good luck with your car and welcome to the club. :3gears-lh
Thanks guys, didn\'t realise there were so many FDs down this way :D
Lol yeah I got mine from Andrew and it was pretty standard (bar the Power FC I had put in). Only lasted a few months standard lol and its still being modified now.
Sometimes wish I had kept it standard though, they are great cars in that form.
I remember opening mine up for the first time after the rebuild, my brother was in the car also and I was shocked how quick it was. Plus the effect when the 2nd turbo came online was (and still is) superb !!!! Never fails to bring a grin to your face !! But just be careful in the wet !!!!!!
Looks a very nice clean car you have there mate !!!
Cheers, yeah looking forward to that second turbo :D
Is the front bumper meant to have a grille of some sort in it to protect radiator etc? As i can see mounting points but at the moment it is all pretty exposed.

Nope, I\'ve had my car for 4 years now and never had an issue with this.
Even caught a bird flying left which went in the middle gap and ended up in front of the left oil cooler lol.
lol cheers
Welcome to the club looks a very clean standard rx I said the same about mine that it was going to stay standard lol now when you open it up there is no going back. Watch for the second turbo like every body say its like have a rocket up your a**e. enjoy it drive it you will love it nothing comes close.
Took it for a good run today so only a few hundred miles to go, can\'t wait :D
Can\'t believe the looks the car gets, people point and everthing lol
Ok, have now run in the rebuild and have experienced the full rev range and omg it is fun!
I think that i may be a little bit in love with my car lol I haven\'t stopped driving it lately, i cant remember the last time i felt so motivated to just \'go for a drive\'
Also have ordered a few bits from Newera so will post some pics once they are fitted :D
Excellent mate !!!
Told you it wouldnt stay standard for long !!!!
Hi
What did you purchased and do you have a programmable ECU like the Apexi?
I am sure you know what you are doing but if you are changing the exhaust system to a de-cat and or changing the IC you will have to map the ECU, standard RX7 ECU can not be mapped…
Let us know..
I am only looking after you engine LOL We don’t want you to blow it
Regards,
Michaelb
No i have ordered only styling bits (99 spec rear lights etc) so far, i do plan to replace standard exhaust and induction kit but will defo be investing in Apexi PFC first :D
Many thanks for caring though :)
New rear lights are on, hope you guys approve :D
