Just wondered how long on average it takes to scrub in new tyres, as my Goodyears seem a bit skittish after 200 miles.
Have you checked the pressures?
Should be fine by now - as above, check pressure. Alignment also needs to be considered if you\'ve never had that changed.
No have not rechecked pressure yet, had 28 all round, thinking of dropping the rear to 26 or 24, no alignment check yet, but has always seemed ok.
When i planted the pedal rear just fishtailed dry road, which it did not when i had goodyears before on 17" wheels,, but i now have 18" wheels.
Lift the pressure a little If I was you.... I\'m running 32 rear & 30 front & don\'t seem to have any issues........ although I haven\'t got the same tyres as you so this would make a diff!! But after 100 miles they should be scrubbed in!
Jono
yep 100 miles as a guideline and 32 rear 30 front :cheers
Why do people stagger the pressures? They should be equel as its a 50/50 weight distributed car (well as standard they are! :driving)
i dont think tyre pressures are related to the weight distribution, i have never really understood it either.
They are related to the weight. Heavy diesel engines of old you would always have the front tyres a couple of psi higher.
Also my Westfield, My tyre pressures are 18psi cause the car is soooo light :yes
yeh yeh, i worded it a bit wrong. i was thinking along the lines of the performance of the tyre??
It\'s more to do with grip than weight distribution. You start even than asjust depending on over understeer.
Thanks for comments, seem to remember someone told me that regardless of tye size (apart from specials i suppose) stock pressures should be used.
you also have to consider the driven wheels...... they always have a slightly higher perssure as they need to cope with driving the vehicle ;)
